Centre for Professional Development, Ngee Ann Poly

Continuing education and training is an important function that Ngee Ann Polytechnic provides to our graduates and other working professionals to help them renew skills and upgrade their knowledge beyond the diploma foundation years. The Continuing Education Centre (CEC) was set up in 1985 to support this function. In April 2002, Ngee Ann Polytechnic re-named CEC to CPD or the Centre for Professional Development to reflect a fresh approach to the national drive to upgrade the academic profile of our workforce. The Centre trains more than 5000 people annually through its various programmes. It conducts over 300 courses each year. Its part-time students include working adults ranging from polytechnic graduates working towards advanced diplomas, to university graduates wanting to learn specific skills or the man in the street who is interested in self-development to expand his knowledge domains. CPD adopts a strategic, market-oriented approach to continuing education and training. Its staple of courses is practical, employment-driven and based on the needs of today's industries to hone a spirit of innovation, creativity and competitiveness. The range of courses stretches from short courses to formal diploma programmes, all tailored to derive specific outcomes in learning and applications at work. These programmes are targeted at workers from a wide spectrum of industries, including business, finance, manufacturing, IT, life sciences, management and entrepreneurship.
