Interface Analyst
Job Description:
* Install, configure and support the various Interface Engines including Mirth and Rosetta module and all applicable components using parsing, text, and message manipulation languages.
* Coordinates the establishment of communications (TCP/IP, FTP) with foreign systems and other interface engines.
* Negotiates protocols to ensure effective communications between systems.
* Configures NextGen interface programs or setup files for proper interface functionality.
* General knowledge and proficiency with NextGen products.
* Track status and communicate progress effectively to Project Management.
* Ability to work independently and utilize technical resources effectively.
* Performs research and fact finding to ensure, when possible, operation or existing functionality is used to solve customer’s specific need and expectations based on the agreed upon specifications.
* Follows established procedures for configuration and installation of interfaces based on the specifications determined by NextGen and customer.
* Solicits and achieves sign-off from NextGen Project Manager and customer for any specification changes and follows established procedures for communicating specifications to engineering.
* Serves as an HL7 resource for engineering and operations staff.
* Coordinates the escalation interface engine support issues as well as enhancements to the interface engine.
* Responsible for continuing education and in-house system interface relation relating when requested.
* Ability to serve as on-call resource for emergent system interface issues as well as multi tasks and prioritize tasks.
* Responsible for configuring, implementing, and testing Hospital Information System interfaces, including but not limited to Patient Demographics, Orders, Results, Billing, Inventory.
* Works directly with external customers and IT vendors on the installation of interfaces, including but not limited to HL7, which will enhance client data integrity and workflow.
* Assists with development and improvements of interface tools, products, integration team processes, and service offerings.
* Must have a reputation as a great collaborator and facilitator, have experience relating to others from different disciplines and backgrounds, and can incorporate insights from many different perspectives into your work.
* Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
Required Skills:
* 3 years of system interface experience
* Understands JavaScript
* Proficient with ADT, ORU, ORM, DFT HL7 Messages.
* Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, PostgreSQL or other relational database
* Experience UNIX and LINUX operating systems.
* Communication Skills: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills
Desired Skills:
* Knowledge of HL7 messaging, design and implementation as well as experience using TCP/IP networks, FTP communications and associated tools.
* Experience in the Healthcare Informatics is a plus
Desired Education Requirements (including certifications):
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
