Packt launched its own online library in 2010 and also introduced the ePub format to make all titles compatible for different eBook readers. The task of a PE will mainly be on working with the current titles and will include: Review of digital: The PE will have to review digital books by comparing it with the final version of the book, to identify that the final corrected title is available on the live site. Moving correct title to the live site: If the final book is not available on the live site, the PE will have to move the final file to the live site. This is an automated process which is done through running a script on the browser. Generating mobi/ePubs: which includes generating mobi/ePub files, Mobi/ePub download and reviewective, ePub validation, etc The task list of the PE will also involve working on the Xml files which are required to be promoted on various platforms like the in-house Packtlib library and various other third party sites such as Safari, Kindle etc. The main Xml processes will includes Xml validation, Xml review, and Xml corrections. Desired Profile A good understanding of HTML, XML, CSS, other stylesheets, DTD and FTP clients is must Experience in manual coding, should be able to convert and create existing ebooks in XML, Epub and other formtas. Should possess knowledge of Adobe Digital Publishing Good comunication skills Should be familiar with MS Word and Excel. Should demonstrate ability to organize tasks according to priority and urgency Should be able to work well in a team.
