Enterprise Solution Architect

Reporting directly to the Head Architecture Consulting & Governance, this role is responsible to perform the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks related to the development of the enterprise solution architecture (ESA) and to ensure that it is leveraged. Primary responsibilities are to establish: Portfolio of Divisions solutions which can be consolidated across Novartis (enterprise assets e.g IAM, LMS, Document management, ITSM,) Roadmaps and governance of the blueprints and standards Architecture consulting services for key enterprise scale initiatives Collaborative architecture community across Novartis. This role is a critical driver for improved alignment and prioritization of IT investments against business objectives. This role is also a critical driver of improved platform and standards lifecycle management leading to reduced cycle times, improved application portfolio rationalization and ultimately a better operating cost structure for IT. Provide advice to CIO and Novartis IT Board on enterprise solution architecture in regards to opportunities for consolidation, solution issues, trends, and leading practices. Strongly promote and advocate EA principles and practice among peers and leaders. "Sell" the enterprise architecture process, its outcome and on-going results. Lead a team of solution architects directly and the architecture community indirectly to establish the Enterprise Architecture function across Novartis. Act as communication and coordination channel through interactions with Corporate and Divisional Enterprise Architecture organizations and leaders. Define principles to guide solution decisions for the enterprise and to guide the decision on potential solution consolidation (Future enterprise asset) Raise awareness on the consolidation options, opportunities and limitations of each approach. Analyze enterprise business context (trends and business strategy), as well as change requirements in other EA viewpoints, to derive the ESA change requirements to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. Develop road maps describing the evolution of all enterprise solution portfolios from current state to future state. Define models, including solution patterns, to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. Consult with application or infrastructure development projects to harmonize systems or infrastructure with the ESA, and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs. Ensure that all individual solution architecture design and analysis work is documented in a structured fashion matching the EA framework and is stored in a common place. Understand and advocate the principles of business and IT strategies, as well as of EA development and service delivery. Be prepared to "sell" the EA process (overall, not just for ESA), its outcome and ongoing results, and to lead the communication, marketing or educational activities needed to ensure ESA success and use. Coordinate with enterprise business, information and technical architects. Work closely with the enterprise program management office (EPMO) or project office to ensure alignment of plans (including migration plans and road maps) with what is being delivered (projects). Ensure that project management or solution delivery life cycle efforts and project architects specifically leverage all aspects of enterprise architecture (EA) separately by EA viewpoint (for example, business, information and technology) and via guidance at the ESA level across those viewpoints Desired Profile Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering or information technology discipline. An advanced degree and related accreditations a plus. English Minimum of 15 years of experience working in the IT function, most of those preferably in a solution architecture role. Minimum 10 years of experience managing high performing information technology teams working across globally distributed, culturally diverse, matrix organizations Minimum 10 years of experience managing the HR and financial aspects of global IT functions and enterprise scale programs. Minimum of five years of hands-on design and implementation experience in IT (solution requirements / design, Application development) Exposure to multiple, diverse solutions and commercial packages Experience in implementing a software as a service solution is highly desirable Experience 10 - 15 Years Industry Type Pharma / Biotech / Clinical Research Role Technical Architect
