Financial Reporting & Accounting Specialist

Responsible for assisting the Manager of FRA in ensuring accountign compliance with IFRS;reviewing potential BD&L deals for optimal accounting treatment;assistance in the financial due diligence on acquisitions; monthly analysis / review of financial statements, namely, balance sheet, cash flows, other income and expense, assistance on the quarterly and annual intangible impairment review/testing procedures; maintaining Sarbanes Oxley Act processes for global Pharma Finance controls; and various monthly / quarterly reporting activities for the Pharma Operations Division.

Responsible for accounting compliance with IFRS as interpreted by Group and includes assisting the Manager of FRA in the following:

• Monitoring developments in IFRS and US GAAP and setting accounting policies for Pharma Division in conjunction with Group.

• Communicating accounting policies to the Country Pharma Organisations (CPO’s), Business Units (BU’s) etc

• Investigating financial accounting policy issues and recommending and implementing actions as appropriate.

• Responsibility for impairment reviews (critical review of input data provided by other functions, challenging assumptions, meeting with business partners, preparation of supporting documentation, coordination of reviews by Group FRA and PwC and following up on any review issues)

• Reviewing potential Business, Development & Licensing (BDL) deals in order to assess the accounting treatment under IFRS, preparation of accounting documentation for the deals / review and sign off of documentation prepared in other BU's

• Reviewing potential Pharma acquisitions, to provide the M&A team with input on any accounting implications, preparing purchase price accounting and relevant acquisition models for completed Pharma acquisitions, obtaining appropriate sign offs as required under Sarbanes-Oxley.

• Responsible for assisting the Manager of FRA in maintaining the various requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for the Pharma Division in conjunction with established processes.

• Responsible for analysing the Division balance sheet, cash flow, quality of earning, other operating income and expense, intangible assets and provisions, and driving improvements in the process and presentation of the output. Rolling out improvements in the process and documentation to the Regions and CPO's as appropriate.

• Updating the Pharma Controllers Manual and the BDL manual

• Maintaining a high-level of communication and coordination with the CPO’s, Regions, Business Units’s, Group Finance and external auditors.

• Ad hoc activities
Minimum requirements    University degree, preferably in Accounting, together with professional qualification (CA or CPA) 4-5 years in public accounting in a capacity within a blue-chip multinational environment
Fluent English
German would be beneficial, but not essential
