Global Product Management

Senior leader who will establish the brand vision and long term global product strategy for Nektar products.  Must be able to lead and influence a multidisciplinary team working on Nektar products to ensure successful development, regulatory approval and commercial success for Nektar products.  Must demonstrate the ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.  Must become the brand champion for Nektar products and establish Nektar as a company bringing novel drugs to patients and caregivers. This job contributes to and supports the company’s research and development efforts to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs.

Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Provides direction to senior managers in various areas, groups, and/or operations. Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Through assessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters. Influences policymaking.  Establish the global product strategy from development to commercialization and life cycle management.  Serves as the single point of contact between clinical, CMC and commercial teams for identified Nektar drugs.  Provides regular (e.g. weekly/monthly) updates to senior management on critical milestones and business aspects of identified Nektar drugs. Works with Drug Development, Finance, CMC, to develop and manage identified drug budgets and timelines.  Understands the regulatory filing strategy, and works with regulatory to establish filing priorities.  Establishes plans for expanded access programs and named patient programs when appropriate.  Focuses the company on executing pre-launch activity including rapid accrual of clinical trials.  Ensures three year publication plan for identified Nektar drugs are developed and updated as needed.  Manages business and contractual relationships with appropriate external parties.  Serves as alliance manager for potential partners working on identified Nektar drugs.  Builds and maintains high level visibility and solid relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs).  Establishes good working relationship with advocacy and research groups.  Supports Nektar drug development team in managing KOL relationships.  Develops U.S. commercial launch plan and global market access strategy.  Establishes business cases for each new clinical trial intended for registration of identified Nektar drugs.   

Updates short and long range forecast for identified Nektar drugs by geography.  Develops a deep understanding of the competitive landscape (CI).  Create quarterly CI update for the executive committee.  May be responsible for providing regular performance feedback, development and coaching to direct reports.

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a scientific, business, marketing or related discipline is required. An advanced degree such as MD, Ph.D. or Pharm.D. is preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 18 years experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries. A minimum of 12 years, marketing, strategic planning, or business development experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical technology industry is required. A minimum of 15 years previous management experience is preferred. Must have demonstrated commercial and development experience. Must be able to demonstrate an ability to lead marketing and technical discussions internally and externally. Must be experienced with and capable of explaining scientific concepts. Must have demonstrated experience in exercising sound business judgment. Must be able to demonstrate an ability to pioneer new ideas and create new thinking. Excellent communication skills both oral and written are required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work across multiple functions, disciplines and people.
