Maintenance Operations
Supervises the maintenance of production and R&D equipment and utility services in a manner that meets company standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime. Maintains GMP compliance for the department. Supervises maintenance activities of the Maintenance Staff and contractors in a proactive manner to promote a smooth operation. Maintains preventive maintenance programs and procedures. Supervises training programs to ensure proper operation, preventive maintenance and procedures. Maintains inventory and/or spare parts and supervises the spare parts program. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Responsibilities
Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect junior employees. Frequently interacts with other supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels. Provides supervision to direct reports ensuring regular performance feedback. Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Serves as a contact between Maintenance Operations and other departments for the purpose of providing prompt, accurate, well documented, and cGMP compliant service. Supervises the day-to-day service priorities through the distribution of work assignments and execution of a long-range planned maintenance schedule. Performs daily review and sign off on all documentation necessary for field service activities. Provides regular feedback to staff for the purpose of ensuring accurate, well documented, and cGMP compliant work. Provides supervision to external service providers performing work on site. Provides training, within a specific skill set to other Manufacturing Maintenance personnel. Provides regular and timely development and performance feedback to staff.
Requirements
A minimum of a Journeyman level proficiency within a specific craft used within the pharmaceutical industry (e.g. pipefitting, electrician, machinist/welder, HVAC, and refrigeration repair) is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 6 years experience in the Maintenance/Engineering in the pharmaceutical or other related industry is required. Must have a minimum of 2 years previous supervisory experience in Manufacturing/Maintenance Management in an FDA regulated environment. Must have experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and support utilities. Must be goal-oriented, quality-conscientious, and customer-focused. Good GMP compliance and safety practices are a must. Experience working in a team-focused environment is preferred. Experience in managing Manufacturing Maintenance organizations in both startup and commercial pharmaceutical environments is a must. Must have a thorough working knowledge of FDA and cGMP requirements for areas of responsibilities. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Project management experience is a plus. A proven ability to work within a defined budget and provide cost savings is required.
