Description
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Must have strong product knowledge of drilling equipment.
• Purchase materials and services required to meet Supply Chain objectives and to expeditiously complete customer sales orders and repairs.
• Procure electronic systems and components to meet supplier requirements.
• Negotiate prices, delivery and terms with suppliers and vendors.
• Expedite deliveries to meet field customer business needs and schedules.
• Solicit, negotiate, award and administrate capital equipment contracts.
• Receive requisitions: analyze for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements.
• Develop sources, request pricing and delivery; select suppliers, place orders, follow up until equipment is received.
• Develop alternative sources, ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality and competitive pricing.
• Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity, which could affect pricing and/or delivery.
• Contributes to NCS Purchasing and departmental goals and objectives through proactive purchasing that lead to lower TCO and improved customer satisfaction.
• Participate on strategic development and implementation projects and participate as assigned on special projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Basic understanding of capital drilling equipment preferred.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and effectively handle details.
• Excellent ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong supply chain background with the ability to interact with internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written forms.
• Knowledge of computer hardware configurations and operating systems.
• PC skills in word processing and spreadsheets desired.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer relationship and communication skills.
• Must be able to understand the customer needs and specify requirements.
• Flexibility to solve different types of challenges.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
SPECIAL JOB CHARACTERISTICS
• Bachelors Degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
• 3 to 5 years related work experience.

• Review requested items, utilize catalog when appropriate and satisfies operational needs.
• Source and evaluate all non-catalog requests and purchases.
• Negotiate prices, delivery and terms with suppliers and vendors.
• Expedite deliveries to meet field customer business needs and schedules.
• Solicit, negotiate, award and administrate Maintenance, Repairs and Operations (MRO) contracts.
• Receive requisitions: analyze for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements.
• Monitor PO activity to ensure completed PO’s are closed in system.
• Update ship-to-dates as required on PO’s to reflect accurate delivery dates.
• Develop sources, request pricing and delivery; select suppliers, place orders, and follow up until equipment is received.
• Advise management of market conditions and supplier base activity, which could affect pricing and/or delivery.
• Contributes to NCS Purchasing and departmental goals and objectives through proactive purchasing that lead to lower TCO and improved customer satisfaction.
• Participate on strategic development and implementation projects and participate as assigned on special projects.
• Reconcile problem invoices related to purchase orders.
• Work with freight forwarders and Logistics Manager on a daily basis.
• Investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of management.
• Represents the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes, or resolving grievances.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Experience as chemical buyer or chemicals related job.
• Proficient in basic math skills and unit of measure conversions.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and effectively handle details.
