Lead Tech

Lead Tech BTS is responsible for critical laboratory procedures and duties in the improvement and support of manufacturing veterinary products.  Tech may work with a variety of equipment while conducting bacterial culture processes performed in the laboratory and manufacturing environment.  Tech must at all times follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices and Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies and perform duties assigned by department supervision.  Some of the duties may include, but are not limited to:

    *
      Perform procedures including aseptic work, media preparation, bacterial culture inoculation and harvest, bacterial culture processing, testing and assay development
    *
      Assist in formulations and calculations
    *
      Maintain accurate and reliable record keeping including charts, log books,reports and all pertinent documentation
    *
      Communicate any unusual and/or non-routine occurrences when performing tasks
    *
      Maintain cleanliness of work areas, prepare, clean and sterilize glassware and equipment used
    *
      Set up and safely operate laboratory equipment

 
Qualifications
 
Education Minimum Requirement:

    * High School diploma / GED with a minimum of 8 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience, OR  Associate’s degree with a minimum of 7 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences or related Life sciences discipline with a  minimum of 5 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience

Required Experience and Skills:

    * Excellent math and analytical skills
    * Effective leadership skills with ability to mentor peers
    * Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of laboratory and manufacturing processes
    * Ability to read, write and understand technical information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels
    * Excellent planning and organizational skills
    * Trained in aseptic technique

Desired Experience and Skills:

    * Good computer skills including use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
    * Experience in large scale bacterial fermentation and processing
    * Experience in vaccine formulation
