Control Engineer

Position will be responsible for managing and supporting assigned Device Development projects form early design concept definition through commercialization.  This position will interact with cross-functional development teams and within Device Development (DD).  The incumbent must be able to work well with all levels of employees and be able to effectively coordinate the execution of device development strategies.
Design Control:

    * Manage and provide leadership to device development teams of low to high complexity with regards to department procedures for medical device design controls
    * Ensure effective execution of assigned projects while adhering to management approved strategic plans, corporate policies, and providing clear communication within and external to the team.
    * Support and monitor design control activities within Device Development and with external suppliers as assigned
    * Support the development, execution, and preparation of reports for patient handling studies
    * Provide Risk Assessment support to Device Development projects as assigned
    * Participate in preparation of materials for presentation of programs for management
    * Provide input into the evaluation and revision of DD design control processes and tools
    * Work effectively with DD professionals to ensure successful execution of device development design control activities
    * Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Design Control processes and procedures


    * Bachelors degree in Life Sciences with training in the area of medical devices


    * Knowledge of medical device regulations with experience in their application with a focus on combination products
    * At least 3 years relevant experience including in pharmaceutical/ engineering / academia with medical devices
    * Experience in a quality and/or engineering role with medical device development
    * Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams
    * Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and networks; able to foster cooperation in others
    * Effective written and oral communicator
    * Able to speak up & contribute in team forums
    * Able to apply prior experiences and learning's in new settings, even if these are unfamiliar
    * Working knowledge of global medical device regulations and standards with experience in their application is an asset


    * Development and/or product approval experience with the medical device component of  a combination product is an asset
