Software Engineer

This midlevel software engineer will be responsible for delivering new features for our industry leading managed care hospital software.  Our stack consists of C#, ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server.  New to MVC?  No problem.  We’ll show you the ropes.  Our user interfaces are crafted with JavaScript, JQuery, CSS and HTML.  If you’ve been thinking about diving deeper into JavaScript because you’ve heard so much about JQuery and backbone.js then join our close knit team to learn more.  In addition, our technical roadmap will offer opportunities to contribute to an emergent service oriented architecture.

Position Objectives:

    * Deliver quality software releases on time in an Agile environment
    * Translate business needs into technical designs.
    * Promote implementation of software engineering best practices and identify needed improvements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    * Responsible for developing new features and the maintenance and enhancements of existing functionality
    * Responsible for creating and maintaining an extensible and performant system architecture
    * Facilitates effective team interaction and leverages the skills within the team to maximize success
    * Maintains a broad knowledge of emergent trends in software development platforms, tools, methodologies and their underlying principles
    * Designs and implements software required to complete user stories and defects
          o Prototyping
          o Design and development (OO Design and effective use of design patterns)
          o Debugging and Troubleshooting
          o Code review, unit  test coverage and continuous improvement
          o Communicates effectively with team members and project leadership to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
          o Ensures unit tests written for all new code
          o Communicates and enforces coding standards.
          o Seeks opportunities to incorporate new technologies into the product’s technology stack when they can add value
          o Continually seeks opportunities to increase product quality and customer satisfaction.
          o Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
          o Delivers informative, well-organized presentations to team members and project leadership.
          o Works directly with support organizations to resolve production issues
          o Provides application support by analyzing defects, replicating/fixing defects and providing root cause analysis for defects
          o Troubleshoots and resolves functional and performance related issues
          o Seeks development opportunities above and beyond required training.

Internal Responsibilities:

    * Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
    * Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
    * Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
    * Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.

Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:

    * BA/BS in Computer Science or related concentration
    * 4-5  years experience in Software Development
    * Experience in developing software in an Agile environment a plus
    * Demonstrated ability to work with other teams within an organization such as Quality Assurance, Product Management and Technical support
    * Experienced with Web/Windows based N-tier database applications
    * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output
    * Required Technical skills
          o C# , ASP.Net MVC (3.0)
          o WCF (SOAP/REST)
          o JavaScript & jQuery
          o .NET Framework 3.5/4.0
          o Design Patterns
          o SQL Server 2008 – database design and optimization
          o Test Driven Development (TDD)
    * Prefered Technical Skills:
          o JavaScript Patterns and Frameworks
          o Continous Integration
          o Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI, and Business Process Management Systems (BPMS) architectures
          o Inversion of Control (Structure Map/Castle Windsor/Unity)
