Data Analyst

The Intake Analyst is responsible for building flexible, customizable, and repeatable data process for new and existing clients.  The Intake Analyst initiates data requests, coordinates and facilitates client facing conference calls regarding data needs, and guides the client through the data collection and validation process.  The Intake Analyst will coordinate/facilitate a team of Data Analysts to receive and process client data according to specifications of the business.  The Intake Analyst is responsible for preparing statistical reports, making recommendations, and participating in the analysis and interpretation of data as appropriate.  This position also develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of databases and resultant reports, and may assist in the development and implementation of new processes and data reports.

 Position Objectives:

    * Achieve annual billable hours goal while providing timely, accurate and professional support.
    * Respond to internal and external customer needs with timely accurate data.
          o Use appropriate processes and software applications for data analysis.
          o Enhance output quality by identifying and correcting data errors.
          o Help to establish and meet or exceed deadlines.
          o Implement and streamline processes to enhance timeliness and accuracy.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

   1. Initiates client data requests and establishes a working relationship with the client to ensure timely receipt of complete and accurate data files.
   2. Receives client data files, validates data, and prepares data for conversion into MedAssets and Aspen’s databases.
   3. Coordinate responsibility for data processing to Data Analysts when appropriate.
   4. Provides appropriate parties with reports for update and review.  Identifies and informs relevant parties of potential data issues that may be critical to the integrity of the subsequent data reports.  Initiates appropriate follow up with client as necessary.
   5. Generates standard statistical and analytical reports for consultants and clients using the Aspen systems.  Performs initial and final quality control assessment of reports prior to distribution.
   6. Generates ad hoc custom statistical and analytical reports as requested by consultants or clients, using Microsoft Access and SQL.  Performs initial and final quality control assessment of reports prior to distribution.
   7. Maintains detailed records of data contacts, data processing idiosyncrasies and current processing status for each client.
   8. Provides in-service training to other staff members and develops training-related materials as necessary.
   9. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:

    * Minimum 1-2 years Data Analyst experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified
    * Strong working knowledge of database structure and query capabilities
    * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output
          o High level knowledge of hospital accounting/financial practices with regards to allocating costs required
          o Knowledge of standard clinical and operating procedures in an acute care setting helpful but not required
          o Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD codes, CPT codes, MS-DRG codes, etc. required
                + Working knowledge of all MS Office Products, strong working knowledge of Excel and Access or SQL required
