Principal Systems Engineer Lead

Experienced engineer for new location initial cadre Technical Lead.   Applies fundamental engineering principles, procedures and techniques to perform as the site Lead Engineer for emerging and existing systems engineering assignments related to the development (hardware and software), manufacture, and testing of data links, ISR/comm systems, air/ground test, training & tracking systems.  Serves as primary technical contact with customers and teammates on programs typically having a total value of $5M-$50 million.  Assignment will generally involve higher risk, higher value programs with responsibility at the total system level.  This position typically will work under general supervision and direction.  Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial technical decision-making authority.

    * Site technical lead for integrated product team cadre for new and existing company programs in and around the WPAFB/AFMC complex
    * Assist site Program Manager/Business Development team to develop and execute plans to capture new business
    * Serves as primary technical contact for customers and teammates
    * Serves as primary technical contact at WPAFB for other divisions and product centers within Cubic
    * Participates in the design and analysis of electronic and software intensive systems and subsystems.
    * Performs systems engineering tasks related to the design, modification, testing and evaluation of systems and subsystems, and development of related plans, procedures, reports and manuals
    * Creates design documentation such as logic flowcharts and block diagrams
    * Assists in the analysis of product requirements and the preparation of system and subsystem specifications.
    * Conducts system integration and subsystem checkout, system and subsystem tests, and system validation
    * Interfaces with Quality Assurance to ensure application of quality standards
    * Participates in presentations for in-house and customer design reviews and status meetings
    * Perform system modeling and simulation, trade studies and system functional analyses as needed
    * Works closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordination and integration of system elements and interface requirements
    * Actively performs risk management and pursues risk reduction on assigned programs
    * Identifies program issues with sufficient lead for timely resolution
    * Works to grow the program through contract changes and preplanned product improvements
    * Develops relationships with other companies,&  government  agencies, then leads capture team for new business.
    * Maintains knowledge of and follows applicable policies and procedures governing work assignments
    * Keeps informed of new developments in systems engineering techniques and advances in technology
    * Participates in teams to solve engineering problems and develop improved engineering processes


Experienced engineer willing to relocate to greater Dayton, Ohio area/daily proximity to WPAFB.  Mandatory self-starting professional with entrepreneurial spirit and broad technical skills.  Experience in working with various portions of Cubic’s portfolio of air/ground ranges, tracking systems, data link systems, ISR/comm, global tracking and/or cyber product areas.  Four-year college degree in systems, mechanical, software or electrical engineering or a related technical discipline, plus eight years of related experience, or an applicable master’s degree plus six years of experience.  Experience in creating, analyzing and documenting system and subsystem designs.  Effective written and oral communication skills.  Ability to use Microsoft Office software, and work with requirements database management tools mandatory.  Experience capturing new business/new work, capture teams highly desirable.  Advanced engineering degree, MBA or Defense System Management College (DSMC) certification is desirable.  Mental ability to perform a variety of engineering problem solving and analytical tasks.  Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints.  Requires knowledge of government procurement, contracting, and standards and specifications.  Source selection from government and/or industry experience highly desirable.
