Manager, Engineering

You will be responsible for leading, developing, and managing the Mechanical Engineering group within S/US (Sensing & Utility Systems). This group consists of mechanical engineers and designers performing electronics/mechanical packaging for sensor-based electronic systems in harsh aerospace environments. A key responsibility is providing capable mechanical resources to the Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) through all facets of the Crane Product Development Process.

Responsibilities:

 

    * Determine resources and processes needed to support the group.
    * Lead tool/process improvement activities within the mechanical function.
    * Provide direction and guidance to subordinates on project IPTs.
    * Ensure standardization of products and processes across multiple projects.
    * Anticipate and resolve major project obstacles to maintain overall objectives.
    * Maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
    * Fully support and implement Crane‘s fair employment practices in hiring, development and promotion of employees.

Minimum Requirements:

 

    * Experience: 5 years experience managing employees either directly or through project/program management or technical leadership roles. 10 years experience in the development of electronics/mechanical packaging for harsh aerospace environments.
    * Knowledge: Working knowledge of practical managerial techniques, leadership and financial management as well as all factors affecting business results.
    * Education/Certification: Bachelor of Science (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field. Master of Science desirable.

Working Conditions:

 

    * Working conditions are normal for an Office environment.
    * Requires approximately 10% travel to support customers.
