Manager Manufacturing Engineer

We have a unique and exciting career opportunity for a Manager, Manufacturing Engineer.

You will be responsible for reducing waste and delays through the most economic manufacturing methods available while providing technical support for multiple value streams and products. You are relentless about continuous improvement and removing waste and have proven results in accomplishing tasks by influencing others.

Responsibilities:

    * Manage, prioritize and provide guidance to manufacturing engineers in their work assignments and projects.
    * Develop and maintain manufacturing standards for production rates.
    * Streamline and improve overall manufacturing efficiencies and process performances to reduce overall direct labor costs.
    * Lead cross-functional team efforts to improve products and processes.
    * Review practices, procedures and processes in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.
    * Ensure lean concepts (identification of waste, quick set-ups, automation, visual signals, and standardization of work) are incorporated into all engineering activities to enable low volume high velocity production.
    * Establish process controls and mistake-proofing/error reduction of products and processes.
    * Design and implement new fixtures to reduce setup time and improve process repeatability.
    * Interface with operations to ensure compliance with all manufacturing processes.
    * Ensure proper corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
    * Participate and contribute to new product design review and improvements.
    * Create and design technical programs to ensure manufacturing processes are meeting customer and quality satisfaction.
    * Develop and manage annual departmental budgets and operations' capital projects.
    * Develop milestones and administer project management for capital projects as required.
    * Participate and be an active member of the MRB.
    * Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and practices.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

    * 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or related field.
    * 3+ years managing direct reports.

Knowledge:

    * Strong knowledge of machine tools and manufacturing processes.
    * Knowledge and understanding of the business processes and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, and on-time delivery.
    * Knowledge of Six Sigma Tools, e.g. Green Belt.

Skills:

    * Strong process management skills/methodologies.
    * Ability to innovate and drive change.
    * Ability to manage effectively interdepartmental and large projects.
    * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at several levels of the organization.
    * Must be able to handle difficult, high stress situations effectively and with diplomacy.

Education:

    * Bachelor degree in manufacturing engineering or related field.
    * Master degree and/or Black Belt certification preferred.

Eligibility Requirement:

    * Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.

Working Condiditons:

    * Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, heel straps, and shop coats.
    * Requires approximately 5% travel to support customers.
