Sr. Test Technician

About the Opportunity

The Elyria Site (Lear Romec Brand) offers the most reliable positive displacement pumps in the industry industry consisting of vane, gerotor, and spur gear configurations. Products include lube and scavenge pumps that are ETOPS rated; high contamination resistance gerotor pumps for oil applications; high pressure spur gear pumps; centrifugal fuel pumps and centrifugal coolant pumps.  Our pumps are used on many General Aviation, business jet, commercial transport, and military aircraft applications.

 

We need a talented individual in our Fluid Management Group at our Elyria, OH facility to fill the role of a Sr. Test Technician.  In this position, you will provide technical support in the Experimental Test Lab under the guidance of a supervising Manager, Test Engineer.  As the Sr. Test Technician, you will provide the hands-on work necessary to accomplish the tasks defined in this job description.

 

Essential Job Functions:

MARKET DEVELOPMENT/ BID & PROPOSAL

    * Provides technical support of bid packages when required.

 

TECHNOLOGY & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

    * Construct test set-ups according to test procedures, schematics, written and verbal instruction provided by Test Engineer, Mechanical Engineer. This will require tube bending, flaring, and brazing, along with working with fittings through 2 inch in diameter.
    * Perform testing per written or verbal specifications.
    * Align pump test fixtures, drives, etc.
    * Calibrate flow meters, pressure gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, data acquisition I/O, panel meters, etc.
    * Perform basic configuration and minor changes to HMI software.
    * Wire data acquisition/control systems.
    * Fabricate cable assemblies for instrumentation and control.
    * Troubleshoot and maintain test set-ups, and instrumentation.
    * Perform titrations and Reid Vapor pressures analysis on fuels
    * Layout and design of Basic test setups.
    * Required to provide basic set of hand tools.

 

PRODUCTION & FIELD SUPPORT

    * Support Production Test as required.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE

    * Procurement of lab supplies per assigned responsibilities.
    * Complete appropriate lab paperwork as required.
    * Housekeeping
    * Actively engages in 5S practices to ensure a clean, neat, organized, and efficient working environment. (Test Lab and office area). Assure proper storage and management of test equipment.
    * Procedures & Reports - Adheres to company procedures (RSPs, safety procedures, dept. procedures, guidelines of conduct, etc.).
    * Safety
    * Understand/comply with company and regulatory guidelines to assure safe operating environment.
    * Schedules
    * Assists in the creation and maintains test schedules Engineering Competencies Basic Math Skills Drawing Comprehension Instrumentation Skills Electrical/Electronic Skills Understanding of Hydraulics Computer Skills Basic programming Skills Basic Computer Skills Microsoft Office products Supervision
    * Will direct the daily activities and train junior level Test Technicians.

 

Minimum Qualifications

    * Experience:  5 years experience in Electronics (instrumentation), computer, Data Acquisition Systems, and Hydraulics.

 

    * Skills:  Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

 

    * Education/ Certification:   Associate Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Curriculum.

 

    * Eligibility Requirements:  Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible
