Planning Performance Specialist

Position Description & Responsibilities:

Compuware has an exciting opportunity for a SAS MXG Capacity Planning Performance Specialist.


Responsibilities:

    * Provide specific expertise in regards to capacity planning and performance analysis and associated reporting
    * Provide ongoing systems programming and performance support, maintain SAS MXG software, and develop system capacity and performance reporting to support the performance analysis effort
    * Estimate the resources needed to support planned software/hardware upgrades.
    * Validate correct performance of features supporting the IBM Parallel Sysplex.
    * Analyze Sysplex configuration for proper performance by studying appropriate Resource Management Facility (RMF) reports.
    * Identify daily performance problems, evaluating appropriate cost-effective change, predicting the effect of those changes, and then implementing them.
    * Analyze workload characteristic and setting initial service levels for that workload.
    * Analyze I/O configuration and subsystems considering the performance implication of the interactions of the components.
    * Customize RMF facilities to monitor workload performance and resource utilization.
    * Customize Allen Systems Group’s TMON suite of products to monitor system health and workload productivity.
    * Produce monthly reports to satisfy Sub-Capacity Workload Charging implementation using IBM SCRT (Sub-capacity Report Tool).

Qualifications:

    * Eight (8) years of demonstrated experience supporting IBM OS/390 or later versions as an IBM Systems Programmer.
    * Three (3) years of recent experience as an IBM z/OS System Programmer providing expertise in z/OS
    * Three (3) years of recent demonstrated experience implementing IBM zSeries technologies with IBM Enterprise/zEnteprise Server hardware systems
    * Three (3) years of recent demonstrated experience evaluating workload performance.
    * Demonstrated experience in using IBM’s RMF tool to monitor workload performance, analyzing performance bottlenecks and resource utilization
    * Demonstrated experience in using Allen Systems Group’s TMON performance monitoring or equivalent performance tool to monitor system performance
    * Demonstrated experience in defining workloads, service levels, and classification rules used in defining service definitions under IBM’s Workload Manager
    * Demonstrated experience working with IBM’s Sysplex workloads
    * Demonstrated experience with IBM’s Performance Monitor of z/OS and The RMF Distributed Data Server
    * Demonstrated experience with IBM’s RMF Spreadsheet Reporter
    * Recent experience using IBM’s Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) reporting tool
    * Demonstrated experience using ISPF as an editor
    * Demonstrated experience utilizing SAS MXG Software

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.  Experience may substitute for education.

 

Clearance

Must be able to obtain a government issued clearance for the position.  Proof of U.S. Citizenship will be required to be eligible for the clearance.
