Compensation Manager

Key Accountabilities:
The Compensation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing compensation and incentive plans. This position will oversee the administration of Carriage’s long-term and short-term incentive plans, equity-based programs, merit increases, regional adjustment factors, market data analysis and annual compensation surveys and provide support in the development of materials for the Compensation Committee to support the growth of the business, achievement of Standards, and Carriage’s overall mission.
•Works collaboratively with HR leaders and senior management to ensure compensation and incentive plans are aligned with business strategies and meet business needs.
•Develops innovative and competitive compensation and incentive programs that enable the company to attract, retain, reward, and motivate high performance employees.
•Actively participates in departmental reorganizations to ensure the appropriate usage of organizational/job structures and application of compensation philosophy.
•Establishes and maintains salary range structures and ensures they remain aligned with the Company’s pay philosophy and maintain balance with external market competitiveness and internal equity alignment.
•Conducts internal equity studies by comparing jobs and analyzing compensation surveys to make appropriate recommendations and reduce potential liability.
•Analyzes internal compensation data and programs to identify trends, make appropriate recommendations, and influence managers to take needed actions and implement programs to ensure best practices.
•Coordinates FLSA conversions and ensures compliance with FLSA regulations.
•Leads variable pay plan design, analysis, and ongoing development to ensure all plans are designed to motivate desired behaviors within each department.
•Designs sales based compensation programs, and create/maintain commission structures for individual business locations and/or individuals.
•Performs periodic ad hoc auditing to benchmark existing programs against the market and recommend changes as appropriate. Remains up to date with current events regarding total rewards and compensation.
•Serves as a strategic partner in the evaluation of new and revised job position profiles, establish job valuation within grading systems, including total compensation recommendations, to ensure integrity of compensation plans.
•Responsible for administering the Company’s Employee Stock Purchase and Long-Term Stock Plans including, grant processing, termination/cancellation processing, accounting and tax reports preparation, coordination with payroll to assure proper payroll accounting, preparing audits and reconciliation reports, coordination with accounting department for communication to transfer agent.
•Serves as the main point of contact with outside broker/service provider.
•Insures SOX compliance within area of responsibility.
•Provide executives and other participants with requested information including account summaries.
•Answers employee questions and resolve problems regarding equity based awards.
•Responsible for conducting quarterly review of plan with third-party vendor and determine any process improvement implementation.
•Provides employee with brokerage account set-up assistance as needed.
•Updates and maintains employee based portal and back-end application utilized in management of stock based programs.
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements Qualifications
Experience/Education/Certification/Licenses:
•Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (i.e.; Accounting, Business, Law, etc.). Master’s Degree preferred.
•Minimum of 4 to 6 years compensation management experience in a publicly traded company.
•CCP Certification preferred.
•Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
Essential Qualifications
•Able to read, write and :speak English fluently.
•Bilingual is a plus.
•High degree of overall computer proficiency.
•Ability to effectively present information to co-workers and leadership.
•Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
•Knowledge of current and emerging compensation trends, processes and technologies, ability to draw on professional compensation networks.
•Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects.
•Ability to make sound business decisions.
•Experience with creating and implementing processes that result in quality business performance.
•Ability to lead by example, exhibiting honesty, integrity, energy and edge.
•Ability to read and interpret Company policies, procedures, contracts, insurance documents, and pricing structures or lists.
•Strong analytical capabilities and ability to work independently with limited or little supervision.
