Commercial Services Executive



By use of networking events, existing clients, centers of influence, internal and external prospect lists and relationships developed with the branch teams in the assigned region, the CSE is responsible for prospecting for and developing low-cost business deposit relationships. The CSE will rely on his or her knowledge and expertise of cash management products to further expand the deposit relationship.  Target customers based on Cardinal’s targeted industries and others to include small to medium sized businesses as well as some larger, more complex banking relationships that may utilize multiple cash management products and services. Manages relationships and negotiates with both internal and external customers. Analyzes profitability of customer relationships and of new business opportunities.  Serves as a product manager as directed by the overall relationship of client or prospect.  Provides timely and accurate reporting for required sales and business development reports.



1.       Identifies sales and business development opportunities to bring in new deposit business and fee income.

    * Regularly blocks  time each week solely for business development activities
    * Develops and consistently executes a targeted, purposeful and proactive prospect/client contact strategy to develop new business, deepen existing relationships, and leverage existing clients for new referral business; reasonable documentation of activity is expected per established Cardinal guidelines
    * Develops and consistently executes a targeted strategy to build productive and mutually beneficial  Centers of Influence
    * Executes established on boarding strategy for new clients
    * Consistently uses established Cardinal call plan and client relationship profiler to prepare for, execute in person calls, and for post-call follow up and ongoing contacts
    * Consistently uses established productive outreach habits to add value centers of influence, existing clients and prospects
    * Immediately incorporates and consistently executes on all sales and business development training


2.       Refers qualified business opportunities to business partners to include Trust and Investments, Mortgage, and business lending groups


3.       Interviews customers and prospects to ascertain their deposit and cash management needs.


4.       Negotiates deposit pricing terms and conditions with customers and prospects.


5.       Prepares proposals, explains services offered, and recommends those services which would be of value to customers or prospects.


6.       Coordinates implementation of related services with the customers and closes the sale.



7.       Handles new business referrals for cash management products from assigned regions.


8.       Provides sales and technical support to Banking Center Managers,Wealth group, Commercial, Government Contract, Real Estate and Small Business Lenders.


9.       Assists Commercial Lenders on large commercial credits providing assistance in cross selling cash management services.


10.    Serves as Relationship Manager for large commercial deposit customers without major credit needs.


11.    Attends a minimum of two business networking events per week and is in a leadership role in a local business organization that will provide opportunity to develop new business.


12.    Performs other duties as assigned.




·         This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.



·         4 year degree or equivalent combination of coursework and work experience

·         5 years banking business development role preferably 1-2 years of previous cash management PC skills

·         Certified AAP and CCP preferred




·         Analytical and problem solving skills

·         Communication skills, both verbally and in writing

·         Time management skills


·         Determines which services would be of value to customers and prospects.

·         Determines mutually beneficial pricing and structure
