Project Manager
The project manager is responsible for day-to-day planning, management, and control of projects within three cross-functional groups housed within Online Products and User Experience. These three groups, User Experience, Web Design and Web Production, partner to meet the needs of web based projects that range dramatically in size and complexity. The project manager will work collaboratively with the supervisors of each group to lead the project team. The project manager needs to have the flexibility to successfully manage the range of projects serviced by the cross-functional teams. Project managers ensure that the scope, and the web development processes are adhered to. The project manager initiates change management when necessary. The project manager will assist in the management of client relationships from beginning to end. The project manager will work collaboratively with the team leads to continually evolve capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively to determine goals, needs, and definition documents (creative brief, strategy brief) that clearly establish project expectations and requirements (dates, roles, deliverables, etc.).
- Produce clear and realistic estimates including: schedule, budget, deliverables and reporting processes (analytics, measurement tools).
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project as they relate to estimates, timelines and project plans (project scope) to ensure high quality and timely delivery.
- Identify and manage potential risks.
- Manage the unexpected gracefully and effectively.
- Excellent analytic, presentation and writing skills required.
- Gather and organize assets from client in a meaningful productive manner.
- Conduct meetings to facilitate project needs such as, creative presentations/reviews, gather approvals/feedback.
- Work collaboratively to define and conduct thorough front-end (user) quality assurance testing with a team.
- Lead post-project initiatives to utilize web metrics to potentially inform and establish action items for continuous site improvements.
- Maintain key relationships with project sponsors to forecast resource needs and communicate those needs to management.
- Serve as a consultant with cross-functional team leads to problem solve per the project sponsors needs in an innovative way.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Resolve and/or escalate risks and issues in a timely fashion.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change, work beyond the Online Products and User Experience department to further optimize and improve existing process.
- Build a knowledge base of project types to draw from to optimize processes.
- Bachelors degree in business, communications, project management, or related degree. Background in design, advertising, or working with an advertising agency or in-house interactive team preferred.
- Knowledge and application of project management principles.
- 3-4 years project management experience under tight deadlines, with emphasis being placed on individual's ability to successfully manage projects.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Visio.
- Experience working with MS Project Server.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage complex and varied interpersonal relationships to successfully complete projects.
- Excellent ability to organize time and information to successfully complete projects.
- Ability to lead and model behaviors for other team members.
