Engineer
pecify instrumentation, valves,
electrical and control system
required to operate “oil field”
process equipment per client
specifications, industry standards and guidelines.
1. Evaluate customer specifications to confirm design compliance for the application.
2. Review customer specifications to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list).
3. Provide cost estimates for instrumentation, valves, specialty items, spare parts, field instrument and hookup and control system for proposals within the scope of supply and client specifications.
4. Review P&ID’s to confirm correct instrumentation symbol and control scheme, confirm sizes for control valve, relief valve, flow element and mounting nozzles for instrumentation.
5. Assist in developing P&IDs to ensure compliance with client specifications, and/or Cameron standard piping specifications.
6. Recommend, specify and prepare requisition for inquiry and purchase of instrumentation, valves, and other piping components like spec blinds, bleed rings.
7. Perform control valve sizing, relief valve sizing, flow element sizing.
8. Recommend control valve, level instruments, flow instruments, and manual valves best suited for application.
9. Participate in client or internal HAZOP.
10. Coordinate with Engineering Department to identify equipment that requires spare parts per Cameron requirements or client specifications. Prepare project commissioning and operation spare parts lists.
11. Provide installation instructions and dimensional drawings during vessel/piping design, and fabrication phases.
12. Assist in providing hookup details to I&E contractor for installation of instrumentations.
13. Review and approve subcontractor field instrument and electrical hookup scope, and ensure scope meets client specifications or Cameron standard.
14. Coordinate with product team to review subcontractor control system design, and ensure scope meets client specifications or Cameron standard.
15. Provide preliminary instrument and valve weights.
16. Review vendor drawings, hookup, calculation and other technical documentation related to instrumentations.
17. Perform final inspection for instrumentation and valves.
18. Participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for Cameron equipments.
19. Perform Peer Reviews of team design work.
20. Provide technical support for trouble shooting.
Job Requirements/ Qualifications 1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years experience in the specification and selection of instrumentation and valves for the Oil and Gas Industry.
2. Familiar with national and international codes and standards for instrument and electrical, valves testing and construction, inspection and NDE requirements, and field installation and start-up procedures.
3. Good design knowledge of control valve, relief valve, flow elements sizing, selection and applications.
4. Good knowledge of level instrumentation types and their applications.
5. Good knowledge of all valve types and their limitations.
6. Hands on experience with field start-up, calibration and trouble shooting experience of instrumentation is a plus.

3. Knowledge of some materials of construction and their application.
4. Working knowledge of ISA guidelines and symbols for instrumentation.
5. Familiar with applicable ASME and API guidelines.
6. Ability to work cooperatively with various company departments associated with designing, estimating, fabricating, operating, and selling this equipment.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Ability to utilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint and engineering design programs.
