We have an immediate need for a Nuclear Methods Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION
We currently seek a high caliber Nuclear Methods Supervisor for a direct or contract-to-hire position within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Corvallis, OR, you will be working for one of the world’s leading engineering and design firms for small modular nuclear reactors.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nuclear Methods Supervisor leads a team of engineers responsible for nuclear core design, core physics, criticality safety, and the development and maintenance of core neutronics software codes and methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises a team of professionals and provides assistance on technical work.
2. Leads peer reviews and technical audits to ensure conformance to requirements.
3. Provides technical and advisory assistance to other projects and offices.
4. Participates in developing and updating company technical standards and practices.
5. Supports the establishment of project work breakdown structures.
6. Prepares estimates, schedules, man-hour, manpower, and material forecasts.
7. Leads cross functional projects within areas of responsibility.
8. Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
9. Develops technical statements of work.
10. Evaluates performance and administers counseling.
11. Develops training materials in areas of subject matter expertise.
12. Assists in the technical training and development of less experienced engineers and designers.
13. Develops team members’ capabilities in support of individual career goals and team objectives.
14. Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Nuclear engineering or related field.
Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in Nuclear engineering and engineering management for complex systems or power plants. P.E. license required.
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Overall Job Knowledge and Performance: In-depth understanding of nuclear regulatory and licensing legal, framework, practices and accountabilities plus nuclear plant engineering and operation concepts, principles, and practices.
Management: Proven track record of directing and managing staff from multiple disciplines and
coordinating licensing and design interfaces to provide integrated design solutions in a timely manner that are licensable by the US NRC.
Skills: Strong technical writing skills. Good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.
Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance procedures, national consensus Codes, industry standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.
