This entails choosing a Chair to lead the team that will organize the conference; ... a newsletter that keeps the delegates up to date on what is happening, etc.

Every customer support team needs a way to organize their activities. And it should happen sooner rather than later if you don’t want to lose time to ineffectiveness or hinder your relations with customers.Even a two or three-person team should start organizing their work. If you’re not flying solo in your customer service, it’s time to put things in order.

Co-located This is the traditional group of people working together in a single physical location.Outsourced An outsourcing arrangement involves two or more separate teams, with responsibilities divided explicitly between the teams most probably located in 2 or more different locations. Whether you should outsource a piece of project or do it in-house is explained in details in my blogpost ‘‘Make versus Buy’’ decision in a Project?.Global team A global team is distributed geographically, but it does not have a fixed division of responsibilities between locations.

If your team mainly communicates via digital channels, you may be wondering what you could get from a face-to-face meeting that you can't get from a team chat.Well, the truth is that people today have grown very adept at cultivating a specific digital personality. Everyone does this online. They try to be confident and positive, and if a project manager is struggling with something, he may fall silent on chat.Regular in-person meetings break down these carefully constructed images, increasing trust and transparency in teams. Not only do you benefit from visual cues when meeting face to face, but meetings also help people develop a social identity for how they fit into the group and encourage participation.Meetings also provide an opportunity for leaders to share their vision for the company. When employees understand the decision-making process, it's much easier for them to get on board with company goals.
