How to Ace Your Job Interview

As graduation day comes closer the fear of interviews sets it there are thousands of other graduates competing to bag the job. To get the job you need to have something different than the others; you need to give the company a reason to hire you and not the other. There will be a lot of competitions and you will need to prove yourself.

You need to start planning for the interview way in advance as large organisations will schedule the interview way in advance; by doing so you will be confortable during the interview. You can even take helpfrom a friend or family member to help practice. Answering the basic questionsis an important part as they show the interviewer your confidence. Showing up a little early helps in impressing the interviewers

The following are a few tips to ace your job interview.

·        Communication skills are important in any job and in today’s world they play an important role. One needs to develop their writing and documenting skills.

·        One needs to stay up to date with current industry affair sources by following the blogs and subscribing to the newsletters related to the particular industry.

·        Dressing professionally is a must, you can even go in for a makeover for the first impression the company will have on you.

·        When applying for a job you need to convey that you have the required skills required for the job and are enthusiastic to work.

·        Emphasis on how fresh ideas could work in the company’s favour or how previous experiences can help.

·        You need to be prepared with a basic of three experiences’ to illustrate how you have tackled problems in the past to meet and exceed the given goal.

·        Maintain eye contact during the interview but do not stare. Shifting eyes during the interview will be perceived as being under confidant and shy.

·        Ask questions clarifying any doubts during the interview about the job and the company culture.

·        Ask about the role you would be playing in the team and the number or members.

·        Don’t forget to take notes during the interview.

·        After the interviews appreciate the time the interviewer has spent with you as there would be a lot more candidates to interview.

·        Never forget to follow up after the interview. The interviewers need to know that you are interested in the job and the company.

You need to be tech-savvy as many interviews may also happen over the phone. But you need to remember that when a phone interview takes place it is generally by a PR person so you should make sure to use key words and points to emphasise.

Skype interviews too have become more popular in recent times. You will need to check the lights, camera and microphone before the interview. You should even dress as you would to a walk in interview.
