Qutestions about Time Unemployeed

There's a 2-year gap in my resume work history.  I didn't work during this entire period.  How should I answer interview questions about this significant gap?

Be honest at the time of interview and told them what are the reasons behind the gap, but don't give any lame reason.

Why was the candidate’s prior employment terminated, How long has the candidate been unemployed, How long has the candidate been unemployed.

Tell him the truth that, why you have not worked, leaves good impact on the interviewer, But don't gave him a lame statement or excuse.

You can say that you were planning to acquire a degree, or busy in social work after you survived a near fatal accident.

If you can say the truth with evidence, then nothing works like the truth. Alternate explanation can be that you were not getting anything in your chosen profession, and you tried other options, and now that situation is under control, you want to carry on with your career.
