Master of Science in Engineering
A Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) or Master of Science (Technology) is an academic degree to be differentiated from a Master of Engineering. A Master of Science in Engineering can require completion of a thesis and qualifies the holder to apply for a program leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in engineering. (A Master of Engineering requires completion of a project and doesn't qualify its holder to apply for a PhD in engineering.) The Master of Science in Engineering is sometimes considered the equivalent of the diplom degree in engineering in countries that have that degree.
