Global Category Leader
THIS ROLE CAN BE BASED IN ANY COUNTRY WITHIN EUROPE APART FROM SWITZERLAND.
The Global Category Manager (GCM) plans and leads global category initiatives for a clearly defined sub-category or group of sub-categories. The GCM develops the sub-category strategy as part of the wider Category Strategy leads proactive sourcing projects, specification definition and demand management, as well as managing sub-category specific supplier performance and innovation activities.
•Responsible for providing sub-category input across Divisions and countries to inform the top-down target setting process
•Accountable for the delivery of sub-category savings targets following engagement in the target setting process
•Responsible for the delivery of Balanced Scorecard Measures for the relevant sub-category
•Responsible for the individual performance management process for all functional reports and aligning this with the operational manager (i.e. Category Project Managers)
•Responsible for the collection of supplier, market, category and internal business data and information for the sub-category
•Responsible for providing sub-category input and validation to the Global Category Strategy including facilitating involvement of relevant stakeholders
•Responsible for the communication of distribution of any sub-category specific strategies to the relevant stakeholders
•Responsible for the development and execution of projects based on the sub-category strategy and business planning activities to feed into the Annual Category Plan
•Accountable for ensuring the sub-category projects agreed to within the Global Category Strategy are staffed and executed on a timely basis in line with the targeted goals
•Responsible for leading proactive sourcing for the sub-category
•Responsible for providing input into the overall category segmentation and identification of key supplier relationships
•Accountable for the implementation of consistent KPIs for the sub-category, based on the Novartis Supplier Performance and Innovation Framework
•Accountable for the management of strategic subcategory supplier relationships as agreed in the supplier segmentation
•Responsible for collecting supplier information and feedback from Divisions, countries, sites, category teams and Business Partners
•Responsible for ensuring the Novartis SP&I Framework is executed at the sub-category level
•Responsible for proactively managing innovation with strategic suppliers within the sub-category
•Responsible for the creation, application and completion and review of major contracts for the sub-category
•Responsible for providing sub-category input into the development of the Category Playbook
•Accountable for ensuring that all category associates involved in operational buying activities have access to the Category Playbook
•Accountable for ensuring negotiated contracts are clearly communicated for the sub-category area to ensure they are consistently applied
•Responsible for monitoring compliance and adherence to Novartis Procurement policies and procedures
•Responsible for ensuring internal issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
•Accountable for ensuring that any supplier performance risks and issues are resolved on a timely basis to end user satisfaction
Minimum requirements Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field.
Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
