Operations Manager

 SUMMARY
Handle the day to day management of the managed pressure drilling group at the direction of the Group’s general manager. The successful applicant will be responsible for growing and managing a combined Global field and support staff exceeding 100 people, along with capital equipment, and inventory. This position will have responsibilities with external customers, internal customers, and vendors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• The Operations Manager is accountable for the business and financial deliverables of the MPD Group, ensuring that the team delivers excellent results by maximizing the operational efficiency and managing cost in a 24/7 sales, service, and repair environment
• Accountable for safety performance of the Managed Pressure Drilling Group.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation and internal controls and processes
• Provides leadership in developing a customer focused business strategy and delivery to internal and external customers
• Responsible for the overall management of over 50 field and office personnel and the associated capital equipment and inventory.
• Is accountable for resourcing of personnel for the district team by recognizing medium to long term (2-5 years) needs for resources and meeting requirements by means of successful retention, employee development and recruitment
• Leads interface with management and external customers on negotiations of significant agreements and dispute resolutions
• Effectively communicates the companies’ goals and expectations by conducting timely district communication meetings. Meetings should include financial results, safety results Vs. goals, customer feedback on service delivery and efficiency
• Travel to field locations to visit with employees, customers, and potential customers to enhance selling and delivery of companies products and services

• Manages performance, provides coaching and mentoring and recognizes and rewards outstanding performance by team members
• Develops and fosters strong networks with other leaders in the technical and support functions to ensure that processes are developed and instituted collaboratively
• Ensure goal delivery by clearing obstacles, providing resources and clear guidance
• Skillfully manage politically charged situations both with internal and external customers
• Cultivates and designs innovative career development plans for team members to ensure employee growth and retention

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
• Valid Drivers License.

Qualifications
 

• Experience (minimum 5 years) with managing a team of technical experts in a 24/7 on call field services repair and installation environment in the oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with successfully managing a P&L management position in a service and rental equipment business
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing the HS&E aspects of a field service business
• Proficient with Microsoft Office application (Excel, Word, Power Point, Etc.)
• Experience in managing multiple domestic or international locations.
• Theoretical knowledge of electronics and instrumentation as it applies to oilfield service business
• College degree preferred
