Vegetable Breeder

Key responsibilities include: Lead the Vegetable breeding program. Creation and evaluation of breeding populations; utilization of molecular markers to incorporate genes for disease resistance and quality traits; Coordinate, place and evaluate trials in major global market segments; make line and hybrid advancement decisions; Identify the best practices in breeding through various communities and implement the same. Achieve pre-commercial hybrid advancement targets and make recommendations to appropriate South Asia and East Asian markets. Fulfil requirements for variety advancement through documentation of performance; completion of required breeder's seed. Manage the resources for developing products through relevant breeding technologies which can be commercially marketed globally. Travel to key regional and global market segments required for trial and product evaluations. Train the research team on International Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) and other compliances policies to ensure safe operations of the research program. Oversight of vegetable specific breeding-related activities in the assigned region. Manage budget cost centre and manage the resources to attain the short and long term business goals. Recruiting, training, and development of research support personnel. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics or relevant fields.
