Are you passionate about the Digital Supply Chain and connected entertainment? Do you want to work on building Internet scale services that supports product platforms such as Xbox Live, Kinect, and Office? Join Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB)'s Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Information & Services (MSCIS) Digital Supply Chain (DSC) engineering team as a Principal Program Manager to drive DSC services and engineering best practices to enable high quality internet scale services and user experiences that will collectively constitute the future of entertainment to millions of devices worldwide connected to the cloud and becoming a catalyst to drive solutions that matter. You will be an integral member of a growing team that is accountable for building an Internet Scale Infrastructure in support of Microsoft establishing position as the global leader in Connected Entertainment.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Develop product plans and long term solution strategy for geo-distributed multi-channel retail Partners and consumers, building extensible platform components and business critical services built on Windows Azure platform and providing seamless integration with Online/Brick & Mortar Partners, cloud marketplaces and social networks
- Plan and execute the implementation of technical solutions for complex problems by identifying resource requirements, preparing project plans, proactively managing project risks and issues, managing end user expectations and ensuring that project scope is contained and delivered as agreed
- Partner and influence stakeholders across business and engineering teams, embracing cross-boundary collaboration and driving win-win relationships and results
- Bring innovative approaches to the project functional areas that continuously improve our ability to deliver faster, better, and cheaper solutions
- Demonstrate understanding of business requirements analysis and the ability to utilize technical skills/experience to improve business processes, system feature/functions, usability and performance
- Follow industry best practices for Agile development in a team environment
- Research and keep current on IT trends, technologies and system solutions
- Assist in scoping and planning new projects - identifying degree of fit of with MS technologies and estimating overall timeline/cost for an implementation.
- Promote proactive and cooperative relationships within the work group by working collaboratively with business stakeholders, vendors, support, development and test teams
- Work closely with solution management, engineering and architecture teams to deliver high quality services
- Be a self-starter that can maintain focus and deliver results consistently
- Mentor junior team members in best patterns & practices for delivering high quality solutions that challenge and contribute to the growth of the overall engineering team
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8-10 years experience in system implementation, project management, process analysis, and enterprise level services/systems
- Strong project management and leadership experience, project planning, risk management and issue resolution skills
- Proven experience driving big and complex projects to successful completion
- Proven sense of high accountability and self-drive to take on and see through big challenges - Familiar with SCRUM or similar agile development/implementation methodologies, and cross-functional engineering practices/excellence
- Strong verbal communications and cross-group collaboration skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
- Great problem solving skills and high intellectual horsepower
- Confident, takes ownership, willingness to “do what it takes” to get the job done
- Sound judgment, decision-making skills, and ability to work under continual deadline pressure
- Demonstrable passion for continuous applied learning & development
- Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity without stalling progress
- Ability to mentor, accept mentoring and be able to conduct bi-directional knowledge transfer is essential
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent understanding of Engineering Excellence processes and requirements
- Implementation experience with Digital supply chain components, such as on-line marketplaces, digital asset management, video on demand, billing/invoicing, etc.
- Expertise and knowledge in Agile engineering practices (Continuous Integration, TDD)
- Experience using UML modeling of business requirements and functional designs
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft development and application technologies
- Knowledge with the Cloud Computing, Windows Azure and SQL Azure
Education Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field is or equivalent experience is required
