Merck Production Systems Leader

Description
Under the direction of Associate Director Operations, will provide expertise to teams including:
· Apply Merck Production system methods such as Six Sigma, Lean, change management, and project management
· Use consultative skills
· Map, investigate and analyze business processes
· Lead Kaizen events to improve manufacturing and business processes
· Coordinate bench marking studies and identify and deploy external and internal best practices and technologies
· Apply key Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques
· Scientific Problem Solving
· Waste elimination
· Establishing flow and pull
· Visual factory (tier process)
Work with sponsors and team leaders supporting Lean Six Sigma projects:
· Identify target areas for business process improvement
· Develop business cases and establish financial and non-financial project goals
· Assess business process efficiency and performance
· Develop recommendations of business process improvement projects
· Manage projects to ensure proper achievement of results
Educate, communicate and motivate the organization about MPS, the Merck Production System:
· Promote a common MPS language and methodology across MMD
· Provide leadership for Lean Six Sigma knowledge management and sharing
· Share best practices across MMD sites
· Teach Yellow Belt training
· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications
Education:
· Required: BS degree in Science or Engineering
Required Experience:
· Hands-on experience with application of several of the following Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques: Standardized Work, Scientific Problem Solving, value stream mapping, SMED, mistake proofing, 5S-Visual Factory, DMAIC, Kaizens.
· Six Sigma Black Belt certification or a Green Belt certification with 10+ years of experience.
Preferred Experience:
· Consultative skills: ability to influence decision making, ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), project management skills (demonstrated experience in managing large teams), solid business acumen, proven team building and change management skills, exceptionally good listening and feedback skills, results oriented, strong analytical skills and prior process improvement experience.
· Hands-on experience with most of the following LLS tools: DMAIC, voice of the customer, SMART problem and goal methods, measurement systems analysis, hypothesis testing, analytical hierarchy process, benchmarking, and design of experiments, quality function deployment, and control charts.
· Experience leading and mentoring successful Lean projects, strong command of deeper Lean tools including organizational design and Hoshin Kanri.
· Excellent skills using IT applications to organize and analyze data (MS-Access, MS-Excel, Minitab, etc.).
· Proficiency in design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
· Black Belt certification preferred.
