Senior Software Automated

Job Purpose:

The Sr. Software Quality Engineer – Automation position is responsible for creating, implementing and supporting automated testing initiatives for internal and external web applications based on the .NET framework.   They will develop and document large scale, maintainable automation frameworks and scripts using a variety of open source, packaged, and in-house tools and languages to support product quality initiatives in an Agile-focused software development organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    * Strong understanding of SQA concepts and practices to continually assess the risks, condition, and quality of products and releases.   
    * Works closely with Agile Scrum teams and other groups to develop, maintain and execute automated test suites.
    * Builds and implements a scaleable, reusable automation framework.   Sets standards for usage of the framework.
    * Develops and implements organized, maintainable automation scripts for complex .NET applications with either browser or winform-based user interfaces.
    * Develop innovative approaches to accommodate tight schedules and resource constraints using automation.
    * Works with application teams to review existing test cases in order to convert or create automated tests cases.  Manages the automated test cases within the test case management tool
    * Documents and maintains automation testing procedures and tools.
    * Manages the automation source code in a version control system in parallel with the associated applications under test
    * Works with the Development team to modify applications to accommodate automation wherever possible
    * Executes automation suites and establishes an automated means of executing these scripts on regular basis to validate the quality of releases as well as daily builds.
    * Reports, tracks and escalates anomalies discovered during testing and ensures closure on the issues.  Helps teams use results to drive continuous improvement upstream
    * Works with application teams and Configuration Management to ensure controlled environments and consistent data for automated testing
    * Provides metrics for automation coverage and progress
    * Provides estimates for planning, development and execution of automated test cases.
    * Continually researches new automated tools and techniques and evaluates them for opportunities for improvement
    * Trains and mentors local and remote team members on automation processes and best practices.

Internal Responsibilities:

    * Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
    * Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.

Minimum Knowledge, Competencies & Qualifications:

    * 5+ years SDLC QA and testing experience
    * 3+years .NET/Windows and Web-based application testing
    * 4+ years automated testing experience
    * 2+  years hands-on programming experience.  Experience in C# preferable.
    * 4+  years hands-on experience with a vendor-based, or open source automation package (e.g. Selenium, Quick Test Pro, FitNesse).
    * TestComplete experience is strongly preferred
    * 4+  years hands-on experience with standard automation scripting languages (e.g. VBScript, Jscript)
    * 2+ years experience with relational databases and reading/writing SQL including joins
    * Solid understanding of automation best practices and architecture for scaleability and maintability
    * Experience building a data-driven automation framework.
    * Excellent people skills with the ability to mentor team members and educate others on automation principles.
    * Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies a plus
    * Able to take direction, proactively seek out information and build productive working relationships
    * Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    * Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
    * Strong verbal communication and writing skills
    * Able to comfortably interact with personnel at multiple levels
    * Proficient in Microsoft Windows XP and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


    * Travel required up to 5% of the time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time working at a computer. The position requires the ability to talk or hear and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The position is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
