Sr Consultant

Job Purpose:

To utilize specific subject matter knowledge and customer relations skills to contribute to the enterprise, primarily through efficient and successful delivery of client consulting engagements.  Also contributes to the enhancement and development of Aspen services and capabilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    * Learn the business of Aspen.  Each Sr. Consultant is expected to bring his/her existing skill set to the position, to identify which additional skills are needed to be fully competent as a Sr. Consultant in consulting engagements, and to develop a plan in conjunction with the appropriate Director to learn the additional skills needed.
    * Delivery of successful consulting engagements.  The Sr. Consultant is responsible to deliver successful consulting engagements to Aspen clients, either alone or as part of a consulting team.  Success is defined as the timely meeting of all material project deliverables included in the engagement contract, including cost savings guarantees.  Success is also defined as the willingness of the key customer contact/project Sr. Consultant to serve as a reference for Aspen services.  The Sr. Consultant will fulfill an assigned role as part of the project team, which may include a leadership role.
    * Interaction with other Aspen staff.  In the performance of client engagements, the Sr. Consultant will be expected to interact productively with individual staff members or groups/units of company staff.  These may be Information Technology (data) staff, Consulting staff, Administrative staff, outside consultants engaged by the company as subcontractors for specific projects, or other human resources in Aspen’s employment.
    * Customer relations.  The Sr. Consultant is responsible for managing customer relations such that clients are satisfied with Aspen’s services.  This includes appropriate and helpful interactions with clients at the client site as well as all office-based activities necessary to fulfill customer expectations of the project outcome.
    * Sales support.  Sr. Consultants may be asked to assist in sales of company products and services.
    * Development and enhancement of Aspen consulting and data capabilities.  The Sr. Consultant may be asked to assist in development of new product lines and services and enhancement of core consulting and data capabilities.
    * National exposure/relationship development.  The Sr. Consultant will obtain national exposure for Aspen Healthcare Metrics whenever possible by arranging speaking engagements, by publishing, and by otherwise developing relationships with health care industry entities that increase the company’s national profile and provide beneficial business relationships for the company.
    * Other responsibilities.  The Director may assign other strategic and/or operational responsibilities to the Sr. Consultant.

 Internal Responsibilities:

    * Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
    * Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
    * Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
    * Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.

 Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:

    * Five years of experience, Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in a health care-related field required.
    * Knowledge of standard clinical and operating procedures and general finance in an acute care setting required.
    * Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD codes, CPT codes, and DRG codes required.
    * Previous cost management or consulting experience required, as well as expertise in Orthopedics/Spine product line.
    * Prior experience with project management and coordination also necessary.
    * Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, coworkers, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
    * Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is detail-oriented.
    * Able to prioritize workload and work effectively with minimal supervision.  Demonstrated ability to work concurrently on multiple projects with several teams.
    * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output.
    * Solid knowledge of all MS Office Products.

Travel:  Up to 75% travel is required.
