Proposal Manager

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, creates custom Word proposals, PowerPoint presentations, and other documents related to prospective clients, sales, and confidential business partnership activities.  Conducts research to obtain key facts about potential clients from numerous internal and external sources.  Meticulously collects and interprets clinical, operational, and financial data, while working effectively and courteously with all levels of MedAssets staff to gather information upon short notice.

Position Objectives:

    * Creates and formats sales proposals and presentations  in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    * Collaborates with Proposal Management team to provide content for Advisory Services proposals and locate new RFP’s
    * Provide fees for complex pricing requests in conjunction with Operations and Pricing Team
    * Provides content for legal agreements to Operations

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

   1. Creates custom content (in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) in response to sales requests for consulting services (Advisory Services).  Includes understanding the consulting services offered by MedAssets (clinical/cost management, labor, process improvement, and revenue cycle), using existing language and marketing documents, as well as assimilating knowledge from subject matter experts to produce a coherent, high-quality document.   
   2. Formats all proposals and PowerPoint’s in accordance with MedAssets guidelines and as requested by MedAssets Advisory Services leadership, consultants and Director of Operations within a timely manner.
   3. Researches prospective clients or businesses to obtain accurate financial, operational, and strategic facts.  Extracts and interprets this information to identify key problem areas and corresponding MedAssets solutions.
   4. Researches and incorporates internal data and metrics into Word proposals and PowerPoint presentations as obtained from multiple MedAssets staff and departments.  Applies critical thinking and logic to determine accuracy and credibility of data in a larger context.  Also adds in key facts from external or market research sources.
   5. Collaborates with Proposal Management team to provide content for MedAssets Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other custom proposals according to specified deadlines.  Includes loading or linking content into the MedAssets master proposal database to ensure synergies in use of most recent company messaging, as well as maintaining a log and document repository in conjunction with Operations.
   6. Proactively finds RFP opportunities appropriate to MedAssets’ consulting services via industry databases, websites, and other sources.  In conjunction with Director, Operations, determines which RFPs to actively pursue and prioritizes accordingly.        
   7. Provides custom fee quotes utilizing established internal methodologies when needed during the creation of sales proposals and PowerPoint presentations.
   8. Utilizes Salesforce.com, Billian’s, industry websites, and other internal data platforms to look up basic information on hospitals, data, pricing, sales status, etc.
   9. Connects with corporate Marketing and Product Development teams as appropriate to incorporate most recent messaging and positioning of MedAssets products and services into proposals and PowerPoints.

   1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Operations and Advisory Services leadership.

Minimum Qualifications & Competencies:

    * BA/BS in a healthcare or business-related field.
    * Minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced analytical/sales/marketing environment, with a track record of success in working with or for executives.
    * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output.
    * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SharePoint required.  Prior experience with Qvidian helpful but not required.

    * General understanding of healthcare services, consulting and/or operations.
    * Outstanding command of written language and grammar, is highly skilled at proofreading and attention to detail.
    * Able to grasp complex topics quickly and extract key data or information.
    * Able to multi-task, prioritize workload, be pro-active, and work effectively with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.
    * Able to communicate professionally, effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
    * Demonstrates motivation, initiative, and creativity when not all information or facts may be available.
