Posting Description    

The senior electrical engineer will provide leadership in directing the long term planning for the Mahrt Mill’s electrical power distribution system. The successful candidate will supervise design changes intended to maximize safety and minimize downtime associated with electrical failures or incidents as well as provide oversight for the mill’s NFPA 70e program. The engineer will also maintain updated short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination studies to properly size equipment protection devices for existing and new equipment installations.

In this role, you will provide electrical engineering leadership to the facility including minimal direct supervision of internal employees. You will have broad interaction throughout the organization including all mill personnel, corporate resources, outside consultants and contractors, vendors, and suppliers. As a project leader, you will provide direction to consultants, contractors, and maintenance work associated with capital or expense projects. You will also be responsible for cost and scope control of these projects. Other responsibilities include work on special projects as directed by supervisor or self-conceived in optimizing mill electrical systems.Expectations of a successful employee include making individual recommendations and engineering studies, makes recommendations for the most practical, safe, and economical solutions to engineering problems. Individual must be competent in time management, project management and possess the skills to direct others while focusing on the customer's needs. An understanding of the financial implications involved in decision making is important.


    * BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years related experience in a large manufacturing environment including verifiable experience with projects associated with Power Distribution Systems.
    * Interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing disagreements are important elements.
    * Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
    * Adaptability to rapidly changing working environments and operational situations.
    * Physical ability to operate in paper mill environment, including light to moderate lifting, walking and climbing, oral communication, correctable vision, and ability to work in a hot, humid, and dusty environment.
    * Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and presentation graphics, etc.
    * Familiarity with electrical system modeling software, PLC, and DCS programming, and is a definitely plus but, not mandatory.
