Director of Manufacturing Job

Essential Job Functions

-Sustain a culture of safety throughout the manufacturing organization.

-Establish and enforce a culture of quality throughout the operation.

-Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.

-Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development.

-Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and schedules. Manage and develop direct reporting staff.

-Ensure activities integrate with organizational requirements for quality, health and safety, legal and environmental policies.

-Provide input into departmental budgets, monitor and ensure budgets do not exceed plan values.

-Responsible for determining internal capacity; participating in identifying capital projects to resolve constraints and resource planning.

-Develop budgets and manpower plans to support production requirements.

-Safety - Maintain departmental housekeeping and 5S standards, perform job functions in a safe manner, wear all PPE required by Company Policy were required, know & follow established job specific and facility wide safety & health procedures and rules, participate in safety and health training & demonstrate competency based on training received, and bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management’s attention or correct those you can.

Job Requirements/Working Conditions

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Management, Operations Management, or Engineering required.

- Experience with ERP/MRP required.

- A minimum of eight years of experience in a manufacturing management role required.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary, as well as high professional ethical standards.

-Experience in low volume, high mix manufacturing environment

-Basic understanding of manufacturing processes including, welding, machining, assembly, painting, robotics, pull schedules, etc

-Experience in a multi-union facility highly desirable.

-Experience with Microsoft Office suite

- Masters degree, preferably in Business or Operations Management

- Supervisory, leadership, mentorship and management experience is desired.

- Direct experience with product management in a durable capital goods company with sales through one or two step distribution channels is preferred.

- Experience managing major product development projects from concept to launch is highly desired.

-Working conditions include constant exposure to manufacturing shop environment, with interaction with all levels of the organization from shop hourly to company president and customers and suppliers.

- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to respond to execution of the build plan.

-10% travel is required
