Electrical Engineer

SUMMARY:
 
The qualified candidate will act as the Responsible Engineer for the design and development of one of several pulse power modulator modules for high repetition-rate (4-10 kHz) lithography light sources.  The qualified candidate is responsible for the project management and technical design and development of a solid state pulse power modulators (SSPPM) module containing high voltage power electronics, resonant energy transfer, pulse compression, pulse transformers, and magnetic saturable reactors.  The candidate is also responsible for contributing to the technical guidance of the modulator topology for future generations of lithography light sources.
 
The candidate will be expected to develop an understanding of related modules in the pulse power systems of past Cymer lithography light sources and potentially support those modules with sustaining engineering tasks.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Responsible Engineer for SSPPM module development
    * Module specification development and release
    * Develop detailed SSPPM module electrical, mechanical, and thermal management designs
    * Interface with laser chamber, platform, controller, power distribution, and cooling system engineers to ensure interface requirements are met
    * Coordinate mechanical layout designs and module packaging with other laser engineers
    * Oversee generation of complete manufacturing documentation package (electrical, mechanical, and assembly drawings, parts specifications, bills of material, etc.)
    * Contribute towards generation of assembly and test procedures
    * Lead procurement, assembly, and testing of prototype module hardware
    * Work with laser engineers and scientists during prototype laser integration of power systems modules and support testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper operation
    * Contribute towards third party evaluation and compliance testing of modules
    * Develop and track detailed program deliverables and milestones
    * Preparation, presentation and delivery of product development deliverables (technical reviews, design validation testing, cost analysis, module deliveries, compliance testing, technical documentation)
    * Periodic technical and program planning, reporting and resolution
    * Work cooperatively w/ program team to meet rapid and dynamic product development schedule and requirements
    * Drive projects targeting field reliability and manufacturing yield improvements of released module configurations
    * Lead the vendor technical assessment and ranking (to assist in vendor selection) process for critical module components
    * Lead the technical review and validation of modulator designs (from concept to production)
    * Technical management of module product development by communicating technical and program expectations
    * Interface w/ program team to ensure appropriate communication of system control, power delivery & cooling capacity requirements, and mechanical interfaces.
    * Assist in technical development roadmap planning for SSPPM
    * Support diagnosis and troubleshooting of light source and SSPPM related issues in all production products
    * Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

    * Detailed knowledge of high voltage power electronics theory and operation (IGBTs, SCRs, FETs, drivers, diodes, snubbers)
    * Detailed knowledge of high voltage pulse power theory and operation (PFN, pulse compression, pulse transformers, resonant charging supplies, diagnostics)
    * Detailed knowledge and application of electrical engineering principles with minimal supervision
    * Detailed knowledge of magnetic saturable reactor theory and design; desirable
    * Moderate knowledge of CAD and analysis tools (FEA thermal and electric field calculation, SPICE or equivalent circuit simulation, schematic capture)
    * Moderate experience in high repetition rate power modulators; desirable
    * Moderate understanding of safety and compliance requirement of industrial electrical equipment
    * Moderate understanding of reliability testing and analysis (FMEA, DOE, ALT, HALT, SPC, and FA)
    * Knowledge of light source module interfaces and requirements (control, power, thermal, and mechanical)
    * Moderate Project management skills
    * Moderate Mechanical design and layout skills
    * Moderate understanding of thermal and power management
    * Moderate understanding of manufacturing processes (DFMA, CO, BOM, CBA)

 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 

    * Minimum Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
    * 7 years industrial experience in related field
    * Knowledge of high voltage engineering required
    * Knowledge of power electronics required
    * Knowledge of project management skills desirable
    * Knowledge of reliability testing desirable
    * Knowledge of EMI diagnosis and troubleshooting desirable
    * Knowledge of DOE and DFMEA desirable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
 

    * Ability to move 100+ lbs. Modules w/ human and / or mechanical assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

    * Must be comfortable working in an R&D laboratory environment with multi-kilohertz light sources operating and high voltage lab setups in operation.
    * Occasional travel required.
