Systems Engineer

SUMMARY

The Field EUV Systems Scientist/Engineer is the technical owner of system stability performance for EUV product at customer site, responsible for assessing, implementing, reviewing and validating the system-level performance to enable customer functionality, improvement, and problem escalation. This role includes implementation of field upgrade, customer relationship interface, ownership of significant system performance enhancement, and customer specific technology implementation efforts.

    * Fundamental understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.  
    * Fundamental understanding of the physics of lasers, IR and EUV optics, system control, plasma physics, and laser induced plasma;
    * Fundamental understanding of error handling and trouble shooting for complex systems      
    * Ability to articulate complex technical information and solutions to customers in precise and forward looking content, while protecting the critical intellectual properties of Cymer;
    * Ability to execute product implementation strategies according to the Cymer’s currently-defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques
    * Ability to work independently with tight schedules.
    * Ability to generate new concepts and ideas that will result in Cymer patents.  
    * Strong written, verbal and presentation skills are essential.
    * Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    * B.S or M.S. in Physics, Laser Optics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum 5 years experience in engineering area of complex systems.  A Ph.D. degree in above disciplines preferred.   
    * Experiences in field technical support, application engineering or reliability engineering of complex systems preferred.
    * Experiences in semiconductor equipment companies are desirable.
    * Extensive experience in photolithography equipment and processes are highly desirable;
    * Extensive experience with MatLab and Labview of high volume data analysis is a must.

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regular oral communications (speech and hearing). Extensive computer/workstation usage (sight and touch).  Extensive clean room and laboratory work requiring light lifting (25 lbs) and positioning, and manipulation of tools and instruments.
 
The majority of the work performed will be in either a standard office environment, involving extensive usage of a desktop computer/workstation, or in clean rooms of the customer chip fabrication facilities, which may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and gases, risk of electrical shock or radiation exposure, and high noise levels.
