Oracle DBA

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly experienced Oracle DBA to join our busy team. You will be tasked with managing, maintaining and supporting the company's development, test and production Oracle and SQL Server databases.

This position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of technology within the transportation sector. With an extensive list of high profile projects you will be exposed to all areas of Software Development within transportation technologies including the latest innovations in automated fare collection and contactless payments. Continuous variety and guidance from senior members of the team will afford you the opportunity to become a subject matter expert within this sector
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Designing and configuring new Oracle 10 and 11 installations both in-house and on customer sites

Managing, performance tuning and troubleshooting of live production Oracle databases

Disaster recovery design, planning and testing. Supervision of system backups including configuration and planning of backup, archive and restore using tools such as RMan and Veritas Netbackup.

Managing the security of database systems and working with security auditors where required

Providing support to the application development team for review of SQL, stored procedures, database structures and processes
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :

The successful applicant will possess an Oracle Database Administration certification, a degree or equivalent in a numerate subject such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering, a strong background in managing all aspects of Oracle databases on a Unix platform, good experience of managing databases in excess of 2TBs, good knowledge of Storage Area Networks and previous experience of working in a 24/7 environment supporting production databases.

In addition, any previous experience of Solaris 8/9/10 and/or SQL performance tuning would be highly desirable.
