Corning Advanced Optics is a premier supplier of optical solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. This includes design and development of opto-mechanical assemblies for targeting, multispectral, hyperspectral sensors for ground, air and space borne sensor systems. We are part of the multibillion dollar Corning corporation with a long heritage of innovation in materials science, optics, mechanical design, precision fabrication, assembly and metrology. Corning has designed some of the most demanding and complex optical systems for a variety of markets including, aerospace, astronomy, medical, military and semiconductor. The Corning facility in NH is currently looking to add additional technical talent to support growth in our sensor business.
Scope of Position:
A multidisciplinary System Engineer is required to develop electro-optic and opto-mechanical assemblies for multispectral and hyperspectral sensors. The System Engineer must have the technical breadth and experience to manage a system development from the “big picture” point of view but still have the practical skills to solve engineering problems. The System Engineer is also expected to lead projects so it is desirable the candidate have project management skills.

Required Skills:
~ 5 to 10 years’ experience in optics related system development for aerospace and defense customers.
~ Must have good hands-on product development skills and competence in project (MS/Project), engineering (e.g., SolidWorks, Code V, FEA) and lab (e.g., interferometer) tools.
~ U.S citizenship required.
Desired Skills:
~ Experience with multispectral optical systems (visible to IR), spectrometer design, laser systems and precision mechanism/motion control design (e.g., drivers, FPGA, etc.) are highly desired skills.
