Senior Support Specialist

 JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Windows Team Leader, this position is responsible to provide advanced systems support and technical skills in the Windows environment in scope.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

   1. Technical role

    * Provide first and second line server support for both local and global locations
    * Provide first line support for Microsoft Exchange and escalate advanced problems to messaging team
    * Provide technical input and leadership within the team
    * Provide on-call support as scheduled
    * Provide support, utilising management tools and predict impending incidents and apply preventive action
    * Identify server capacity / availability issues and potential points of failure / weaknesses and engineer a solution
    * Assist with server upgrades and reviewing new technologies such as, SAN (iSCSI/Fibre), Storage and Software

   2. Software

    * Assist with server monitoring (Health, patching and Antivirus)
    * Assist with SOX procedures and reports.
    * Handle commissioning and de-commissioning of equipment
    * Provide Support and Administration of Active Directory (Includes staff movement within and without APAC sites)
    * Provide high level of support and administration of DNS, DHCP, WINS and ISA & Net Backup technologies
    * Provide assistance with EPO/McAfee
    * Manage Application deployment within the server environment
    * Assist and help develop VMWare ESX environment within the APAC Sites
    * Produce and maintain both support and SOX documentation
    * Install, integrate and configure the OS and both vendor and proprietary applications
    * Implement appropriate security measures including system configuration and resource monitoring
    * Implement appropriate disaster recovery procedures
    * Understand user needs and respond to their requests for assistance

   3. Project Management

    * Ensure projects are properly conducted, monitored and documented

   4. Communication

    * Provide regular status updates
    * Provide and maintain system documentation
    * Participate in team meetings and discussions
    * Participate in global technical meetings and discussions
    * Provide and share technical information globally
    * Activities are communicated to management and interested parties

   5. QHSE

    * Adhere to Company standards of QHSE

   6. Other Responsibilities

    * Participate in the technical evaluation of new staff
    * Participate in achieving SOX compliance
    * Configure and maintain databases as required
    * Understand industry trends and developments and how to implement effectively

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

    * Relevant diploma or equivalent experience
    * Minimum of 5-7 years relevant technical experience
    * Strong technical understanding and technical leadership qualities
    * Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
    * Understands the Company’s needs and requirements in his/her area of specialisation
    * Working independently but not in isolation
    * Demonstrates a good grasp of the overall mission of the organisation
    * Good interpersonal skills
    * Able to mentor others
