Systems Architect

Responsibilities

·         Operational responsibility for a large Windows server environment consisting of 400+ physical and virtual servers and disk storage devices.

·         Architectural design of Active Directory structure, maintenance and support. Strong emphasis implementing best practices for GPO deployment, site replication, stability, and DNS operations.

·         Architectural design of multiple Enterprise Exchange servers utilizing best practices to ensure simple configuration, scalability, high availability and ease of troubleshooting.

·         Architectural design and maintenance of 3 SharePoint farms. Will require a strong knowledge of IIS/SQL/SharePoint administration and best practices.

·         Architectural design and oversight of the enterprise VMware infrastructure and their strong dependence on SANs (NetApp). Will require strong prior experience administering such environments and the ability to provide monthly reporting on key performance indicators.

·         Architectural design and expert level knowledge of Enterprise Backups, Anti-Virus deployment/compliance, and Windows patching.

·         Produce monthly reporting on data trends and enterprise server and application health.

·         Responsible for first level review and approval of all Change Control Requests submitted by the Systems Operations team.

·         Act as the Systems Operations technical project manager for major initiatives, changes and product deployments ensuring expectations are properly set and deadlines are consistently met.

·         Demonstrate a strong commitment to working with the Systems Operations Manager in a “Lieutenant” capacity so that together, both will ensure the team is performing efficiently and striving toward operational excellence.

·         Assist with budget planning and forecasting as well as review and renewal of all licensing/maintenance agreements.

·         Acts as the technical visionary of the team, leading by example, demonstrating strong analytical troubleshooting skills, expert level knowledge of enterprise-wide applications, ability to stay calm under pressure, and a desire to mentor junior level Systems Engineers.

 

Requirements

·         5 - 7 years’ experience designing, implementing and operating large, complex Microsoft Windows Active Directory environments in a 24/7/365 operational capacity.

·         3 - 5 years’ experience in a technology leadership position, mentoring, training and operationally tasking an engineering team of varying skill sets.

·         Bachelors degree in an information technology discipline; IT industry certifications are a plus.

·         Experience acting in the role of project manager for multiple projects that are being tactically executed by subordinate members of the team while monitoring the effectiveness of the deliverables in relation to the plan.

·         Demonstrated success translating business requirements into actionable tasks or projects for your team.

·         5 - 7 years’ experience operating large, complex data centers hosting 200+ servers.

·         Advanced understanding of security and Group Policy Object design and utilization.

·         3-5 years’ design experience with the following technologies: Active Directory, Exchange , Sharepoint, SQL Server, IIS, enterprise backup software, McAfee ePO, VMware, SAN technology.

·         At least 2 years’ experience as a System Architect or Team Lead in a medium to large company with a proven track record of successfully implemented initiatives.

·         5 years’ experience supporting a large Active Directory environment, including specific core competencies in the following technologies:

·         Site Components

·         Forest Topology and Forest Operations

·         DNS topology

·         DFS Replication and Namespace

·         Group Policy Administration

·         DNS and DHCP services in a large environment.

·         Must possess effective presentation and communication skills that tie technology solutions to business needs.
