Performance Engineer

Job Description

    We have an outstanding career opportunity for a successful Performance Engineer in our Oceanport, New Jersey office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Performance Engineer to have a penchant for solving complex and interesting problems. They will handle information which requires ideas from just about every area of computer science, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design, etc. The typical workflow will include understanding, instrumenting and profiling code up and down the stack.

    Position Responsibilities include:

        * Develop and maintain capacity models.
        * Research customer usage patterns and identify key system performance requirements.
        * Benchmark system performance, evaluating alternate hardware and software architectures.
        * Review all system architecture changes and assess system capacity impacts.
        * Produce system sizing /performance matrix for customer deployments.
        * Work with performance tools to instrument and profile code to find bottlenecks.
        * Work closely with development team to understand technical details of a given component and suggest ways to improve scalability, throughput and resource utilization.
        * Work closely with QA to ensure performance improvements do not regress by introducing the right set of tests in a manual and automated environment.

    Position Requirements include:

        * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
        * Minimum 5 years experience working with performance modeling of the following technologies:
              o Windows/Unix/Linux Operating Systems
              o Java
              o MSSQL/SQL Programming
                    + SQL queries, PL/SQL knowledge
                    + query optimizations, query plans
              o Network
                    + TCP/IP, routing, interface configuration, DNS, firewall, proxy, remote access
                    + web servers (apache, tomcat, IIS)
        * Specialist domains: VMWare, SQL Server
        * Excellent documentation, reporting and communication skills.
        * Ability to multi task and work in a fast-paced, team environment
