Sales Analyst II

General Position Summary:
Manage the retail planning and analysis function for assigned customers at Columbia Sportswear. Primary responsibilities are providing analysis of style selling and financial reports from accounts, assisting in financial and assortment planning, as well as managing on order.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Replenishment Management:
Manage the forecasting of the internal basic replenishment program (RIP). Capture selling information from retailers to help build history and monitor performance by style / color. Work with sales reps to ensure accurate forecasting of needs by style and color, by retail account. Communicate this information to planning and customer service.
Retail Sales Analysis:
Collect data from accounts showing performance of each style in terms of sales, inventory, sell through, average retail and gross margin for the week, month and season. Share analysis of product performance with sales force, customers, planning department and merchandising staff. Make recommendations on future on order, liquidation of slow sellers, shifting inventories between retailers, increasing or decreasing internal buys and altering future product lines.
Project season end gross margin versus plan and recommend strategies to achieve plan, by account by product category. Recap gross margin performance by account seasonally.
Prepare recommended seasonal assortment and supporting financial plans for accounts by product category
Maintain regular communications with Columbia sales representatives and key account personnel in buying, planning and senior management in order to develop strategic business planning partnership.
Work with Columbia Sportswear planning department on current and future season forecasting. Identify opportunities and liabilities on product based on history and market trends to maximize production runs and internal gross margins.
Specific Job Skills:
Possess advanced knowledge of merchandising, buying, product allocation, and retail sales analysis. Advanced knowledge of retail math and pricing strategies with an in depth knowledge of open to buy and the financial planning process at the retail level. Knowledge of the outdoor industry, the department store channel, consumer buying patterns and retail dynamics sufficient to be credible and influential with customers.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree specializing in finance, business, economics OR equivalent and
Three to five years of experience in retail buying or retail planning, preferably in a department store environment or similar experience with retail forecasting and sales analysis at the wholesale level.
