Regional Category Specialist

The Regional Category Specialist is a critical member of the Procurement team that supports the Capital program and blend plant related spend in the Lubricants plants in Asia Pacific. This role will be based in the Chevron Jalan Buroh Plant.

The Regional Category Specialist is responsible for Procurement activities including compliance with policies and procedures, development of contracts and strategies, commercial evaluations and recommendations, contract administration and documentation. This position will require interfacing with management, business stakeholders and external vendors.

The ability to work as a team and to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders is essential. The candidate should be independent and result oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities:

Category Management  

  • Leads the Lubricants Capital projects and the blend plant related spend in Asia Pacific. This includes civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation categories.
  • Develops Category plan through spend analysis, category analysis and inputs from stakeholders
  • Develops sourcing and negotiation strategy for the category and leads the commercial discussion during negotiation
  • Performs sourcing to provide maximum value to the users
  • Assist the stakeholders in the implementation of the contracts
  • Ensures contracts are in compliance with all company, industry and regulatory requirements
  • Manages and develops supplier relationship and performance with periodic supplier performance reviews, addressing both performance metrics and continuous improvement activities
  • Develops and executes the Annual Contracting Plans (ACP) in country and overall ACP for Lubricants organization
 Provides functional guidance and training for Procurement processes  
  • Works with Corporate Procurement to ensure principles, strategies, processes, standards and Chevron Way behaviors are applied to deliver Procurement results for the Asia Pacific Lubricants organization. 
  • Provides in-country procurement support by acting as a point of contact for procurement issues and give guidance and training to the business partners
  • Ensures P2P compliance for the contracts handled and countries assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering related fields, coupled with MBA preferred. 
  • At least 5 years experience in Procurement with knowledge in managing blend plant requirements and capital projects
  • Experience in Category Planning, Contract Planning, Sourcing and Supplier management process
  • Experience in developing / applying total cost ownership (TCO), Should Cost Modeling and other category management techniques in strategic sourcing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skill and project management skills
  • Good team player and strong drive for performance and results
