Support Technician II
* Works closely with the On-site Project Manager and research staff to perform various procedures and maintain all records as needed and associated with these duties.
* Performs intravenous (I.V.), intramuscular (I.M.), Intraperitoneal (I.P.), Intranasal (I.N.), oral administration (P.O.), and subcutaneous (S.C.) dosing in rodents.
* Provide dosing for various departments.
* Regularly measure body weights, observe animal health, score IBD and EAE studies, and conduct tumor measurements. This will include data entry and analysis.
* Support study set ups; take downs, ex vivo assays.
* Sample collections (blood and tissue)
* Histology (scanning, cutting, trimming, and staining)
* Bacterial plating and counting
* Actively interacts with research staff to provide technical assistance.
* Operates equipment and uses supplies according to safety guidelines; performs general housekeeping and adheres to safety procedures. Complies with safety policies and procedures and MSDS guidelines, including those related to biohazards and radioactive substances.
* Assists with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.
* Maintains required attendance levels and adheres to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels in order to ensure that assigned duties are completed.
Education: Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science preferred or BS degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent college level program.
Experience: Minimum of three years related animal care and handling as well as extensive P.O.animal dosing experience is required. Two years of technical experience as detailed in the essential duties and responsibilities section preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
