Responsibilities:
This hands on Analytical Scientist position will be responsible for the implementation of new analytical capability in Brazil, and for performing analytical testing and interpretation to support Ticona technical growth.Position will collaborate closely with NA peers to ensure global alignment.
Resource will be challenged to maintain and ensure equipment functioning, including but not limited to, calibrations, maintenance, method sound-ness and global alignment. Also in scope is the documentation and training protocol, as well as safety requirements. Appropriate Management of Change (MOC) should be used for new methods.
Primary functions include defining requirements to meet customer objectives, method development, setting up and performing analytical measurements on thermoplastics and complex chemical systems; providing technical data and support to T&I, Manufacturing, Quality, BUD's, and external customers.
Strong English language verbal and written skills

MS or higher level of appliable eductation, PhD preferred
*
Hands on capability and interpretation skills for a wide variety of analytical techniques
*
High comfort level with analytical instrumentation
*
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret date and provide compete/thorough presentations/reports
*
Experience with engineering polymers or plastics
*
Ability to pro-actively design methods to meet customer needs
*
Effective communication - both verbal and written
*
Strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practice and chemical handling
*
Ability to organize, keep detailed documentation/records, and achieve timely, accurate results
*
Ability to make minor repairs to lab equipment
*
Ability work independently with minimal supervisionand be part of team
*
Must strive for continuous improvement
* Must be energetic, self motivated
* 3 -5 years
* BS, MS, PhD in Chemistry (or alternative applicable polymer field or experience)
Qualifications:
Demonstrated capability to bridge the gap from characterization to practical modeling or predictions of behaviour in application - application of the data to a practical situation/application/need. Position is not to simply generate results, but to define the approriate characterization to allow practical use of the data
2) Knowledge of polymer systems including processing phenomena, flow and viscoelastic behavior and analysis
3) ISO/ASTM methodology
4) Microscopy, thermal, and FT-IR skills
5) Plastics failure analysis experience
