Assembly and Test Specialist

Description
 
As an Assembly & Test Specialist at Caterpillar, you will have the opportunity to work with and contribute towards a team of production operatives. This semi skilled role allows you to develop your communication and interpersonal skills as well as use your initiative. You will interact with hourly and salaried employees at your facility and will receive guidance from your Team Leader. Many opportunities exist for those operatives who are keen to progress in the production environment.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Performs a variety of functions to assemble hydraulic units.
* Sets up and operates test equipment to perform required test operations on such units.
* Analyzes and diagnoses malfunctions and makes necessary adjustments and repairs.
* Compliance with safety and quality standards
* Compliance with 5S programme and other business improvement initiatives
* Display behaviour and conduct fitting with our Values in Action
* Train other employees if and when required
* Any other appropriate duties

Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications:

* The ability to use hand tools, power tools, checking or testing equipment and to be able to read and interpret drawings
* Previous Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
* The ability to follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions as well as basic arithmetic calculations in order to perform the duties described above
* Physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the job


Desired Qualifications:

* Previous electrical/mechanical experience
* Experience working to take turns
* Working at heights may be necessary
* Reasonable level of computer literacy where required
 
Additional Information
 
These positions are located at the Caterpillar facility in Joliet, Illinois and are available on all three shifts.   Starting pay is $15.38 per hour with a ($0.30) night shift premium. These positions are full-time supplemental and do not have benefits for the first 2 years.  There is no relocation available for this position.
