Process Control Engineer
Description
As a Process Control Engineer, you’ll contribute your leadership and expertise as part of a continuous quality improvement process for Caterpillar’s non-core supply base in the execution of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and the implementation of process control. In doing so, you’ll leverage global factors while delivering service excellence locally.
With a typical spend up to $50M, your responsibilities may include (but are not necessarily limited to);
* working with suppliers to ensure that robust process controls are in place to prevent nonconformities;
* continuously monitoring suppliers’ key manufacturing processes and quality management system for improvement opportunities;
* assisting suppliers with APQP activities to ensure production readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI), helping suppliers to reduce waste and extract value from these activities;
* providing technical support during start-up activities; and
* ensuring resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues.
You’ll also be responsible for suppliers’ processes from cradle to grave in the product life, validating process capability and managing project plans and activities to ensure compliance with Caterpillar expectations, while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* An undergraduate degree or international equivalent from a college or university – or equivalent experience;
* A minimum of one year of work experience in a related position;
* A background in Engineering or manufacturing, plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies;
* A thorough understanding of quality initiatives;
* Knowledge of shop operations; and
* Willingness to travel up to 25%-50% of work time as needed.
Desirable Qualifications:
* An undergraduate Engineering degree or international equivalent from a college or university;
* A Quality Engineering certification;
* Understanding of 3rd party registration standards; and
* Ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem solving tools.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and project management skills to develop close working relationships with others both inside and outside Caterpillar.
