Manager of Allocation

General Summary:

The Allocation Manager is responsible for optimizing the initial and subsequent distribution of product to stores for assigned departments of merchandise. Primary responsibilities include driving store performance in departments of responsibility through the optimal assignment of product to stores in order to meet sales opportunities.  

Essential Position Responsibilities:

 

             Leadership:

    *
      Highlight opportunities and risks associated with current inventory position by location to appropriate levels of management.
    *
      Train, manage and develop allocation and replenishment analysts to utilize systems to perform functions at highest level of proficiency.
    *
      Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross functional partners including Merchants, Planners, Sourcing, Store Operations and Logistics.
    *
      Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share Best Practices and develop system knowledge.

             Allocation:

    *
      Create store grading by program to support assortment planning and allocation strategies.
    *
      Develop size scales based upon analysis of size selling and sales opportunities to maximize sales.
    *
      Execute initial allocations as defined by store grading and the assortment plan.
    *
      Execute allocations on a timely basis to support in bound flow and logistics requirements.
    *
      Utilize the “On its Way” and “Fill in Hot” playbooks to prioritize distributions.
    *
      Monitor in season performance of fast and slow moving merchandise using “Fill in Hot” and “Fill in Cold” playbooks. Review auto allocate results and revise as needed.
    *
      Ensure that inventories are proportionately in line by grade as the season progresses through analysis provided by the “Know your ABC’s” and “None in my Store” playbooks.
    *
      Utilize the “Size Analysis Tool” to address and respond to store stockouts by size on fashion merchandise.
    *
      Contribute to the financial success of the departments by meeting or exceeding sales and inventory turn, and WOS goals.
    *
      Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of cross-functional team. (e.g. buyer, planner, replenishment analyst)
    *
      Participate in cross-functional meetings, contributing input on distribution strategies.
    *
      Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices and develop systems knowledge.
    *
      Create hindsight report to evaluate performance of styles by grade shortly after season ends and develop future strategies by grades based upon the performance.

            Training & Support:

    *
      Partner with Allocation Administrator, Manager and/or Director of Allocation to resolve and champion best practices for allocation procedures and training.
    *
      Provide support for the Allocation Team when Director or Manager of Allocation is unavailable

Qualifications & Requirements:

    *
      Bachelor’s degree required.
    *
      Prior allocation experience and working knowledge of merchandise allocations systems desired.
    *
      Experience in a specialty retail environment would be an asset.
    *
      Ability to manage and develop team to perform at a high level of proficiency.
    *
      Proven analytical skills and a strong understanding of retail math concepts.
    *
      Ability to work effectively in team environment.
    *
      Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously & prioritize work in a fast paced environment.
    *
      Must be able to analyze and make recommendations on findings.
    *
      PC skills including Excel, Access and Word.
    *
      Experience with JDA Allocation or other allocation and replenishment systems a plus.
